What a find! I found this delightful breakfast/lunch cafe through Find Me Gluten Free and enjoyed the best sandwich I've had since I was diagnosed with celiac disease 17 years ago. The secret is that they bake their own gluten-free sandwich bread. I chose the Tuscan vegetable sandwich filling, which was delicious, but the other choices sounded equally good. The gluten-free side was a cucumber salad made with freshly picked local cucumbers, and I helped myself to their iced tea brewed with lemongrass, ginger, and cinnamon. I ended my meal with a gluten-free espresso chocolate brownie. I am strongly symptomatic when I get "glutened," and I had no symptoms at all after this meal. To fully enjoy this restaurant, you must understand that it is not a business, but a non-profit formed to provide both healthy food and jobs and job training for the differently-abled. Your service will not be fast, but it will be professional and kind. You may be greeted by a volunteer, entertained by a folksinger playing for free, and see young families with kids enjoying gluten-free treats. If your lunch costs a dollar or two more than it would at a traditional sandwich shop, you will know that you are contributing to the dignity of people who are grateful for their jobs and take gluten-free safety seriously.
