Went in as there are giant signs saying that they have gluten free bread and pastries in the front windows. I picked out a small tea cake ($7) and as I hand my card to the register worker, he asks if I’m celiac. I reply that I’m gluten intolerant. He says basically that there is flour everywhere and cross contamination is probable. I asked if the ingredients were gluten free and he replied with yes, but stuff happens. So I leave with the bread since I had already paid for it, and I am not great with social stuff. I guess I should have just canceled the transaction. I had a small piece with coffee this morning, and it doesn’t taste good enough to risk the gluten possibility so I’m not going to eat more and can’t properly assess the contamination this one time. It’s super sweet and strange tasting. But, you all should know that they don’t stand by their gluten free products being anywhere near gluten free, and anyone on this app for gluten making them sick and not just a trend diet should probably avoid. Why they have a huge sign in the window advertising their gluten free bread is a mystery.
