Went several weeks ago, felt safe and was reassured by the waitress who went through everything that could be made gluten free on the menu. Was disappointed though that the swordfish had multiple substitutes that I was not aware of so the only side it came with was a mountain of spinach.

My son has Celiac and we told our waitress. She was very knowledgeable about gluten free choices and she asked about cross contact being an issue. They do not have a gluten free menu but lots of choices are. She even went to chef to make sure what he wanted was safe. They pan seared his swordfish to avoid cross contact. He had no issues. They even had gluten free rolls and brought his own butter. Great experience and great food.

Wonderful experience. Knowledgeable staff who advised me well. Though I ordered something with known cross contamination risk of one of the components (tuna tatar), I took my gluten-ease probiotics and hope for the best. I loved the meal and will surely be back should I ever find myself in the area again.

Excellent meal and very aware of the needs of a diner with celiac disease.

Ate at the bar, the bartender has gluten intolerance and was very knowledgeable about GF dishes on the menu. I had the RI Chowder and the paella and both were delicious.

The food was amazing. The clam chowder is a must. I had a lobster roll as well and the GF bread was bland (as to be expected) but the lobster was really good. Didn’t get sick so that’s a win and 5 stars from me.

Food was great (we were there for the restaurant week special). Most of the menu can be made gluten free. The server was very knowledgeable. It is expensive, but worth it for a date night.

Delicious meal but a bit pricey. Server was knowledgable and answered questions. Even had gf dinner rolls!

They usually have Walrus & Carpenter Oysters which are the best, and the cocktail sauce is in play! Swordfish grilled simply is the best food in the city. They take it seriously when you inform them risk of being poisoned.
Went here with hopes of a variety of GF options for my daughter with Celiac - people seemed knowledgable and cared about being educated and keeping her safe. Great atmosphere and location. We did not take in to consideration my shellfish allergy when selecting and ended up with a hugely limited menu. No separate GF menu anymore. Very expensive.
There is no shortage of great seafood restaurants in Providence. But try hemenway's because of its wide-ranging glutenfree options and accommodating staff. For a special treat, order steamed lobster and bacon and scallion wrapped scallops.
The food was fantastic, first of all, but it really seemed they knew what they were doing as far as gluten free. I'm not celiac, but I understand the frustration of the restaurants that are clueless. The meal started with GF rolls, the manager delivered my appetizer and explained they cooked it specially to be GF, and the waitress verified we knew that a soup my companion ordered was GF. When my food came out, they again emphasized it was GF. again, I'm not celiac, but that's way more awareness then I've had out to eat.
