I ate here and it was delicious, and they seemed to know how to avoid CC, but I got glutened here. :(

Went here for Sushi and Drinks and really enjoyed it. Staff seemed very knowledgeable about Gluten and immediately brought me a seperate GF soy sauce. Only had a bit of sushi but felt safe here. Was yummy too. No GF Menu but it's marked on menu

I live here. This place used to be my go to restaurant. I don’t know whether they have changed chefs, have new management or just decided that gluten allergies don’t matter, but this place is no longer celiac friendly. The last three times I have gone with my two daughters who also have celiac, they have screwed up our order and given us items that have gluten. If I was not so hyper vigilant, both my daughters would’ve been severely glutenned. You absolutely cannot trust what they bring to the table. The kitchen staff are careless, and the wait staff are ill-informed. Ambience is beautiful, the service is very slow, but the servers are pleasant. It doesn’t matter how much you explain celiac, your items will likely come out with some form of gluten. Celiacs go at your own risk and don’t trust that they understand what you can and cannot have. Do yourself a favor, and go to Conscious Culture Cafe, where they actually understand celiac disease, and make every effort to accommodate you as actually understand celiac disease.

Expecting an experience along the lines of all the reviews. Waitress made no claims of confidence that they take care not to poison anyone with gluten. Decided to proceed with at least an appetizer and although had the gluten free symbol stated it was fried in a commingle fryer. So we left disappointed because the reviews seemed so good.
The food was amazing. They could modify many of the dishes to make them gluten free. The waitress we had was nice, and she knew a lot about Celiac. My food tasted delicious, and everything was marked if it was gluten free or not.

Staff extremely knowledgeable, and helpful. Food was excellent. Could done without earthquakes😂.

Great service. Nice waiters, and very understanding of gluten issues.

This is a gorgeous location, and menu options that "can be prepared gluten free" are marked. Food was decent-to-good. I'm giving this one low mark purely on service. While our server was adequate in answering my questions about menu items, his attitude said it was definitely a waste of his time, and he was actually rude about it when I asked him to confirm that the dishes he brought to the table were gluten-free. I did not speak to the manager, as I had other ways I wanted to spend my vacation day, but if you are celiac and looking for a nice meal out, call ahead and speak to a manager first.
GF items are limited to sushi and salads. They were able to make me a couple of really tasty sushi rolls that were gluten and shellfish free. They also have GF soy sauce!
So fresh and truly delicious. The view is great and we were very well taken care of. I felt safe as a celiac, there were many options and I didn't get sick at all.
The staff was very knowledgeable about which items were gluten free or could be made gluten free. I had the Uno special and the mud pie for dessert. Both were excellent!! I definitely recommend this restaurant!

Delicious. Good GF options for lunch.
Had a great dining experience. I have celiac and enjoy the beef carpaccio and had 2 California rolls. They have a dedicated fryer and gluten free soy sauce. I physically made the server bring the commercial size bottle to the table. Clearly marked gluten free and no wheat. I had no reaction at all. The views are amazing.

The food is delicious, but I definitely was glutened. I think it was a mushroom appetizer we ordered or I was given the incorrect soy sauce. The waitress wasn't super nice or accommodating so possibly she didn't inform the kitchen to modify for me. I ate here before and was just fine, so just be careful and double check.

The food here was delicious and the waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu and GF. The Poke was amazing and one of the only places that I've been able to eat it.
Yes
Excellent cocktails and decent food. Clearly marked gluten free options, including most of their sushi. Even more importantly they have a dedicated gluten free fryer, but had a mix up earlier in the day and told me about it subbing my homemade chips for jimica slaw.

The restaurant was in a beautiful locations and they had a great local menu. Everything on the menu was clearly marked as gluten free or not and the servers were very knowledgeable about the food. They warned us about cross contamination issues and even brought us gluten free soy sauce with our sushi. The service was a little slow but this is a good find.
Yes
We had the sushi which was marked on the menu as GF and they brought us GF soy sauce with it. Server was knowledgeable and accommodating and even pointed out that one of the specials we asked about likely contained gluten. Cocktails were excellent too. Giving 4 stars instead of 5 as service was a little slow

0/5. Served a "gluten free" dessert garnished with cookie crumbs from a gluten rich cookie. They argued with me for 20+ minutes that the garnish was toasted peanuts even though they were found to be shortbread cookies.
They did refund the price of my meal and my dad's but a free lunch doesn't give back the whole day of lost vacation.

Really clean and beautiful restaurant. Hostess was slow, but the server made up for it. Best drinks we had all vacation. Awesome views of the bay. Many GF options including GF soy sauce. I ended up getting the fresh catch for lunch, it was delicious. Highly recommend this place. Fryer has other breaded products in it FYI.

Menu is marked, knowledgeable wait staff. Had fish tacos, Cobb salad and a fried banana chocolate torte.

Awesome meal with lots of gluten free options! We started with the grilled cauliflower with black garlic aioli which was really unique and delicious. Then I had the BBQ ribs for dinner which were also excellent. The watermelon mojito was also very good. Highly recommend but make a reservation as this place seems popular! Our server was very knowledgeable and accommodating.

Not many gluten free options. Service was not good. They say us near a windy open door and then the waitress completely forgot our appitizer.
This pretty second floor cafe overlooking Hilo Bay has a wide selection of celiac-friendly options. The food was good and beautifully presented and service was fast. There were only a few options that were not celiac friendly. Also, because they use gluten free soy sauce, sushi and poke were options. All the fish dishes we tried were delicious.

Best gluten free meal we've had on the big island! I mean wow!
Amazing pan-asian gf option. They cook with gf soy sauce opening up all sorts of dishes which are normally off the menu, and even offered gf soy sauce to go with our sushi! We thought the food was really nice, and the views from the dining room are spectacular.
Found this place on the APP as it is a little off the beaten path. The food was tasty and the wait staff was friendly and accommodating. The view of Hilo bay is an added bonus. The botanical gardens are right next to the restaurant.
The food was ok. I am vegan and the vegetarian sushi was quite good. However, the crispy quinoa salad was disappointing. I would say there was less than 20 individual granules in the salad. The lettuce didn't seem that fresh either. there are plenty of GF options on the menu, especially for meat and fish eaters and the atmosphere was clean and nice.
Gorgeous view. So so food. Staff are knowledgeable. Unfortunately for me, hot peppers in almost everything. The limeade with coconut milk is fabulous.
Ask the server and they can tell you what is safest to eat. Quite pricey but the view and the food makes it worth it.
