very knowledgeable, always willing to clean the grill for me when I come in with no fuss!!!! love this place!!
being 14 years old and gluten free I enjoyed the noodles and drinks!
They've recently redone all their sauces to be gluten free so the only things you need to watch for on the buffet line are the noodles and some of the meats. They did a great job scouring the grill when we told them we had a gluten allergy, marked the spots, scrubbed with extra care, even divided off our section with giant metal bars to prevent any splashing. Ordering from the menu would be trickier but the bar itself was great. You can skip the noodles entirely and just use the rice they bring to the table to avoid any noodle contamination. Great job and really appreciated all the effort they put in!
my understanding is the owners wife has celiac s, and this is a gluten aware place. ask the staff. they will provide you nutritional guide and it's easy to not choose the few and obvious gluten containing ingredients. tell the cook you are gluten free, they will clean the grill and give your food space. they have a gluten free sit sauce you can use. they are helpful. cannot guarantee 100% no cross contamination, like all places.
Menu and separate allergen list. Confusing to cross reference. Then. you have to carry the big allergen list with you as you select your ingredients. Those should be labeled. Then you tell the cooks you need your order Gluten Free. They scrape and scrub a section of the grill, and then partition it off and cook your ingredients. Not good enough for celiacs, they should have a separate grill or a section they can put on top that is dedicated to gluten free only.Wait staff friendly and curteous, and appear to be trained by corporate, but their procedures are not adequate for celiacs or the very sensitive. I will know in less than an hour, but until they improve their procedures, they are not quite there yet.
After going here several times, I feel that I have it down. The first time I went there, I got sick- very sick. The rice noodles are right next to the regular noodles and cross contamination is VERY high. After speaking to a manager, he was kind enough to tell me that they have no problem getting noodles from the back at request. Now, I ask my server to get my noodles from the back and have not had issues. Another poster here said that all the sauces are GF which is not true. They only have several that are gluten free, so be sure to get the allergen paper from your waiter so you know ahead of time what you can eat. Now that I have sorted that all out, I do not get sick. The chance for contamination is high, but cutting those major things out has helped me avoid the stomach ache.
I have always love HuHot and I was very excited to eat there and not worry about getting sick. I jist told the waitress and she brought me out a special bowl and let the cook know. I could eat everything but the soy sauce and 2 out of 3 noodles. I was awesome!
Excellent--all sauces are Gluten Free & so are the Pad Thai noodles, just remember to ask the super awesome grill masters to scrape the grill for you! Super awesome staff, I didn't feel like a bother asking for GF stuff.
Huhot's sauces are all now GF, so it is much easier to eat here than it once was. They block off part of the grill if you say you have an allergy and it is only the noodles that really pose a risk at this point on their main food line. Not perfect, but if you're celiac you'll have to consider the risks of flying noodles.
Everything was explained really well, they gave me a gluten free guide, they had gluten free soy sauce, gave me a special 'allergy bowl' so that the ones cooking knew I couldn't have certain things, and they used separate utensils and a clean space on the grill for my food! Would definitely come here again!
They have GF pasta and sauces, however it's buffet style so there is cross - contamination. They do clean the grill prior to cooking and use clean utensils in a blocked off spot on the grill. Having a dedicated GF "line" would change the rating in a heart beat! Staff was knowledgeable about GF.
They have a list of which line items contain allergens (not just wheat) so that you make sure that you are eating foods that are acceptable. They give you a plate to put your bowl on to make sure that the cooks know that they need to prepare your food with extra care. They scrub the grill until it is spotless and looks safe for your meal. Sauces are limited (because most contain soy sauce) but overall it is very good. It is my favorite place to go out to eat because I get to pick exactly what I'm eating and I get to watch them cook it. Absolutely love it!
They did a really good job making sure they did everything they could do make things gluten free. They gave me a special allergy plate so everyone knew I had an allergy. They also cleaned a large area of their grill, just for my food. The food was great also, lots of choices.
I really had high hopes for this place. the food is excellent and they do try to be cautious by cleaning grill bringing separate color coded bowl, etc... However, regular noodles next to meat fall in the meat causing cc. rice noodles right next to regular noodles, then the sauce same thing ppl touch the ladle to their food and another cc issue. I made some suggestions to improve the process. I hope they make some changes bc I really like their food, but I suffered a bad reaction and can't go back unless they do.
They did a great job cleaning the grill and helping me choose gluten free options! Very tasty!
So customizable and gf friendly. They clear a spot specially on the grill to keep my order safe, and get my sauces directly out of the refrigeration cases, instead of off the line, to make sure they are pure/safe (not something I asked for, they just do it). So yummy and accommodating.
A great option for gf dining. Every time we've gone they clear/clean a spot on the grill to keep mine safe. They clearly label sauces, and most all ingredients except for the regular noodles are safe (and they do have rice noodles!) I really enjoy my meals here.
There are a lot of gluten free foods available and if you inform the chefs you have a food allergy, they clean the cook top thoroughly before cooking your food. The place is also all you can eat, though we were full after one bowl. There is potential for cross contamination with the sauces, but less if you choose ones in the back row. You can check out their allergy list on their site and they also have them printed at the restaurant.
Cooks had ample knowledge of gluten allergy/Celiac disease. They clean the grill with a cleaner and a pumice stone tool that scrapes all the junk off. He was very nice and willing to help you out. Then they use separate utensils that stay with your food the whole time it's cooking. Other dishes don't touch yours. I felt satisfied and not sick when I left! The cook and the manager even personally came and checked on me! Now that's service!
ThisHuHot is delicious and very cautious about food allergies and intolerances. If you haven't been here before, this is a buffet style Mongolian BBQ, so you get your own meat, veggies, noodles and sauces and they cook it on a grill for you. Before you step up to the buffet, they have little recipe cards for combinations that address various allergies. There are no less than 6 different recipe cards for those who eat gluten-free. There are rice noodles available, and if you tell the cooks at the grill you have a food allergy, they clean off a specific place and use cooking tools that are kept separate from others to avoid cross contamination. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is fun and inviting, and they have more than 100 beverages to choose from (mostly sodas - I had raspberry flavored Sprite Zero!). It's a great place for parties or a date. Try it out!
I love this place! They are very helpful and the food is yummy!
Awesome staff!!! They really cater to helping me out! Delicious every time we go there and I've never gotten sick
We've eaten here 5 or 6 times now and have never had any cross contamination issues. True, some of the servers have a better knowledge than others about gluten sensitivity/allergy. Make sure you tell your surver that you need an allergy plate. This way, the cooks at the grill will make sure your food is cooked on an extra clean surface separate from everyone else's food with a clean spatula that hasn't touched anyone else's food (mostly noodles from what I've seen). They offer 5 or 6 gluten free sauces ranging from mild to very spicy! If you must have noodles, their pad thai noodles are gluten free. Ask for white rice to be served with your meal.
They will clean a spot on the grill but cross contamination is a huge issue. The sauces are a mess of CC as are most of the ingredients. Staff has no knowledge, told me white rice was not GF when I asked for it. As far as stir fry, it was overcooked on top of everything else. The cook was great, the server seemed to think we shouldn't ask so many questions, especially since no one had a clue. We won't be back.
