Last night was our first visit to i.e. and definitely will not be the last. I noted I had celiac on the open table reservation. Upon greeting us at our table, our server asked who had celiac and walked through the entire menu with me. They have a gluten free fettucine that is cooked in a separate pot. Most of the pasta dishes can be made gf with the gf noodles. I felt extremely safe eating here and our server (and food!) was exceptional.

Recently diagnosed with celiac so I’m still figuring out about GF eating. Both times I've eaten at IE, the staff has been knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly about making sure I get delicious food that won't negatively impact my health. Love this place!

I have anaphylactic allergies to wheat, barley, and rye. While it took the server a LONG time to figure out what I could eat, I felt confident my options were safe. Unfortunately the gf pasta is made in a facility that also processed barley & rye and they said they didn’t feel comfortable serving it to me. If you’re really sensitive, avoid the pasta. I had the lamb appetizer, the burrata appetizer, and the short rib. All delicious!

Knowledgeable staff - they don't print a gluten free menu but have many options including a gluten free linguine in the which they can substitute in any pasta dish. Any main is gluten free by default.

Ahhh all the reviews are true! They are incredibly thoughtful about gluten and cross-contamination. They make a gluten-free fettuccine noodle that is amazing. They don't advertise the GF options on the menu (probably to not turn people off to the authentic Italian cuisine) but our waitress was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful.
There aren't a ton of the shareable plates that are gf, but most of the entrees can be swapped with the gf noodle easily. There are also a few sides like potatoes, brussel sprouts etc that can be prepared in an oven to avoid cross contamination, but it will take them a little longer to cook them.
It's definitely a little spendier so won't be a place I go to all the time but I am thrilled to have a celiac safe Italian restaurant to eat at in south Minneapolis!

OMG it's true - their house made gluten free fresh pasta is the best I've ever had! Only maybe half of the menu is available gluten free, and none of the starters were celiac safe except the caprese, but the pasta dishes that can be done with the gf pasta are amazing.

They have the most amazing gluten free pasta which can be subbed in for many of their regular pasta dishes. Other gluten free options as well. They took the time to ask if they needed to be mindful of cross contamination and took the necessary measures so that we could enjoy some amazing Italian food worry-free
