Safe. There’s a disclaimer for Celiacs which just tells me they know how serious it is. I opted for pizza as the only pasta available is penne. I got the Margherita pizza. The toppings were clearly fresh, and very flavorful. The crust, however, tasted and texture wise was the same as a cheap cauliflower crust you buy at Walmart. Overall, I probably wouldn’t eat here again. Not many options, the staff weren’t very attentive or kind, and the food overall wasn’t great, but could’ve been.

Best gluten free pizza I’ve had!! Came here for my birthday with a small group. Although it was loud, the waitress was very helpful in pointing out the gluten free options and explaining the separate pizza oven. Limited dessert options — birthday candle in the lemon sorbet was funny, but overall delicious and felt safe.

Visiting Georgetown for a wedding and found this pizza place for my son and husband who both have Celiac. There are three pizza’s they can make gf. Seems like they did a good job with cross contamination because both of them are fine and loved the pizza.

While there were only 3 pizza and 3 pasta gf options, the pasta I had was the best I’ve had since I was diagnosed with Celiac. The server was knowledgeable, quick to offer gf focaccia bread, and helped identify gf desserts on the dessert menu, which didn’t have gf marked.

Good experience here for my highly reactive Celiac son. The waitress said the gf pizzas are cooked in a completely separate oven, gloves are changed etc. They also had gf foccacia bread and some pasta options.

I’m a very sensitive celiac and I’ve never had a problem here. Been eating here for years. One time a waiter warned me the pasta may have a CC risk because the gf and regular pasta pots are close to each other but I’ve never had an issue. If you are worried, order the pizza! I do wish they would add more options to the menu but I’ll take what I can get!

Hands down the best GF pizza I've ever had. They even had GF herbed focaccia! Super busy spot, but affordable and fun. All of their GF pizza is made in a separate oven to limit cross contamination. I would make a reservation just because of how busy they get. I cannot recommend this spot enough!

People here are nice they seem to be well educated on gluten and cross-contamination. The food however was not wonderful my pasta came out as if it had been sitting under a lamp for a while. They offer promotion for gluten-free yet they have a free deal with yelp for dessert which they don’t honor for gluten free. This simply pissed me off. I’d say the food is average and in Georgetown there’s other options I do think it’s relatively celiac safe

The waiter has no idea what he was talking about. You could only pick from 3 different bland pizzas. The waiter said “it’s too heavy” when I asked for extra meat toppings. Save your time, don’t come here if you want a GF/DF pizza with anything other than sauce.

This is my go-to for pizza in DC! The crust actually tastes great (I know, shocker) and the ingredients are always fresh- the diavola is my favorite. As an added bonus, I’ve never gotten sick here. I’d 100% recommend to any fellow celiac in the area!

Had a great experience at Il Canale! Waitstaff was very knowledgeable about what was GF. Enjoyed the homemade buffalo mozzarella and tomato salad followed by the margarita pizza with a GF crust. All delicious and zero problems. They also offer GF pasta and other items. Will return soon!

GF pizza, GF pasta. Very good quality. I’ve only had an issue once: I ordered takeout and included a note to avoid cross contamination (I ordered a salad with a side of salmon). When I picked up the order they mentioned they hoped it was okay that my salmon was grilled on the same surface as the bruschetta. I was bummed but grateful they caught it.

Had dinner at il canale last night and it was amazing! It’s always great going to a place that truly understands celiac disease and has the precautions and methods in place to keep you safe! I had the bruschetta with the GF focaccia (there is an up charge for it but completely worth it), the prosciutto and melon, and pizza! They have 3 pizzas on their menu that you can order with no risk of cross contact so I picked one of those. It’s great to be able to find a place where I can safely eat pizza. All around an incredible meal. Thanks il canale! We will be back!

So freakin good and so authentic. The staff is knowledgeable about gluten and other allergies. Ask them about gf options. They can also make gf ciabatta. It doesn’t even taste gluten free- according to my non-celiac boyfriend. Definitely recommend, as it’s a great place for gluten-eaters as well so you can come with friends and not feel guilty!

I got the pasta bolognese- in my opinion the food was just okay. Portion size was okay but not huge. Really good service though and lots of outdoor (unheated) seating. I am a little unsure about their kitchen practices, but I felt fine afterward. It’s not cheap but is one of the more affordable GF options in Georgetown.

The GF pizza was delicious! Close second to our favorite GF pizza in NYC. Pizza size was generous enough to share but yummy enough to eat yourself.

This is a great place to go for celiacs. Knowledge staff. Excellent meal with no worries. Need more places like this.
