Best fast food chain allergy protocol!! Order "Protein Style” burger (lettuce wrap) or “Flying Dutchman” (no bun/wrap) & let them know you have a gluten/dairy/ etc allergy! They'll take care of the rest: glove change, separate grill, work station, supplies. Fries are also GF. If you order within a group, they bag the allergy order separately than the rest. But you definitely have to say "allergy" ordering it lettuce wrap is not enough to let them know.

Even though they're fast food they seem to know what gluten is. I have always gotten protein style, and haven't had a problem.

Very friendly. Like all In-N-Out locations, the fryer is dedicated for fries because the only items on their menu are burgers, fries, and shakes (basically). If you tell them you have a gluten allergy, it looks like it marks that in the system. You can also ask for a separate tray or bag from the rest of the order. There aren’t any gluten free buns, so you have to order it protein style, which is just a burger wrapped in lettuce. But boy, it was amazing. And I didn’t get sick. I look forward to coming back. Also, looks like basically everything is gluten free except the buns. Here’s their gluten free menu: https://www.in-n-out.com/docs/default-source/downloads/menuallergenchart2018.pdf

5/24 It’s still busy, it’s still clean, and it’s still safe. This place is always busy, but it’s clean and it’s safe.

Tell them you are gluten free and they will note it in the order. Get burgers “protein style” for a lettuce wrap instead of buns. Fries are 100% safe! Never had any issues here, just don’t forget to tell them you have a gluten allergy so they take the necessary precautions for CC

I had heard it would be safe and I was not disappointed. Dedicated fryer for fries. Burger served protein style (lettuce wrapped) and on separate tray from rest of non GF order. Employee verified gluten allergy on fries and burger order. Symptom free and first fries in 4 months!

HUGE shout out to the staff at this establishment today. This was my first dine out experience at fast food since being diagnosed with lupus and celiacs. The young lady at the register quadruple checked my order and also verified with the manager and working staff about it coming through. Then once my order came up the manager stood at the counter until it was picked up telling everyone to keep my order seperate from my son and husbands (non gluten free) order. I felt so incredibly safe and can’t say enough how much that meant to me today. Thank you
