As someone with celiac disease, Jersey Mike's is generally one of the few restaurants I feel safe to eat at. I have been to other Jersey Mike locations and they have always been very conscientious to avoid any cross contact with gluten containing products. However, I left this location feeling really anxious and discouraged. The employee who took my order seemed annoyed when I asked questions about their procedures to avoid cross contamination, put the food wrapper down on a cover littered with crumbs, abs balked at my request to use veggies and condiments from new containers in the back. The meat slicer was my biggest concern because it had flecks of food all over it, even though she told me she just cleaned it. I was left with a choice to throw out my sandwich, uneaten, or take my chances and trust that it was only meat and cheese bits left on the slicer. To top all that off, she was careless in slicing the bread so one side was significantly thicker than the other side, and all the toppings and condiments were put on haphazardly so when I went to eat it, one half of the sandwich was very dry, while the other seemed to have all of the condiments and pickles.
