Not celiac friendly... here is how the visit went. I spoke to the employees and asked if they would be able to prepare an Italian gluten free sub without cross contamination. They said they would wipe everything down and prepare the GF sub by itself on the cleaned line, change their gloves, use a clean knife, and place the GF bun on parchment paper and its own cutting board. They did everything as stated. All employees involved with my sub changed their gloves and the meat slicer was wiped down thoroughly. Up to this point I was feeling pretty good about things and was appreciating their efforts. Then it was time for toppings... and disappointment. They grabbed lettuce and tomatoes from the same tubs they had been grabbing from while preparing regular subs. This involved handling regular bread, picking up a stack of tomatoes, putting a few slices on a sub, then putting the rest back... all now cross-contaminated. The lettuce and other toppings were the same. None are safe with the way they are being handled. You might do okay if you didn't get any toppings, but this particular Jersey Mike's does not have it right. I don't know if it is a training issue or not. It is disappointing because they are trying to do it right. Unfortunately, for celiac is do or do not, there is no try.

One final note, I did test a small piece of each ingredient on the sub with my Nima sensor and it did not find any gluten. I still did not eat it since such a small sample is unlikely to catch cross contamination.

I gave two stars instead of one for their efforts.
