We hadn’t been here for awhile so, on a trip into Blacksburg, we decided to try it out. The staff was very accommodating and the manager made sure that the meat slicer was thoroughly wiped down and fresh fixings were brought from the back. The staff changed gloves and used paper to protect my sandwich. We were pleasantly surprised to find that Udi’s now has two sizes of sandwich rolls, too. The sandwich was delicious and I did not get sick so we’ll be back!

Very knowledgeable about cross-contamination. They wiped down the counter, grill, and sliced. A different employee changed their apron and gloves before making my sandwich. When two other people came in and ordered right behind me, they made sure to finish my entire order before making their “regular” sandwiches. They have Udi’s brand (if that makes a difference taste-wise). They even had pre-packaged gluten-free Udi’s cookies with the other desserts. A lot of their pre-packaged chips contained gluten, but other than that, it was just like ordering a “real” meal!

Wipe everything down and use squirt bottles for condiments. Change utensils too. Never had any reaction and eat there often.

When I order my gf sub, they wipe down the counters, the deli slicer, change gloves, and change knives. The only issue I see in retrospect is that the toppings have been touched by previous gloves and the knife in the mayo has touched regular breads (but another reviewer said that they changed mayo knives for her. I just didn’t ask haha). I’m sure they have other containers under the counter that haven’t been contaminated so I would try and ask.

Excellent gluten free bread! It is supposedly an Udis roll but exceeded previous udi bread experiences! It was not dense and was soft and didn't fall apart! We ordered a hot sandwich and cold sub and it held up great with both! The staff was gracious, attentive, and very knowledgeable about gluten allergies. They disinfected the entire station including the slicer and didn't use the same spreader for mayo! I am very pleased with this experience! No reaction and highly recommend!!! We will be back!
$2.50 extra for gluten-free bread. Sandwiches are good. They were pretty good with precautions. Still, if I were super sensitive, I’d be worried about the amount of wheat flour crumbs floating around.

Service took a while. I ordered ahead of time even. I waited around 15 minutes once I arrived and was told it would take longer because of my allergy. Overall bread was hard and fell apart while eating it.

I stopped by on a Sunday afternoon to get a gf sub. They asked allergy or preference, wiped down the counter, put down paper, used a clean knife, changed gloves, and were cool about grabbing toppings from the back. They even moved the sandwich to fresh paper at the end of the line instead of wrapping in the paper that had sat on crumbs. Altogether I was impressed! At most locations I have to correct things as I go down the line, but the two staff who interacted with me here seemed very well trained on gf protocols.

They ask if you have an allergy or preference when it comes to the gluten free bread. After stating I have an allergy they cleaned the slicer, the counter, and all of the staff switched gloves. A new employee had accidentally used the mayo knife so they gave me new bread and then they use the squeeze bottle of mayo to prevent cross contamination. Everyone was very friendly, understanding, and aware of how to handle my allergy.

Amazing processes and protocols for safe handling of gluten free sandwiches to avoid cross contact. They explained their protocol to me without me prompting or asking any leading questions, showing me that know how to prevent cross contact.
