I called and asked questions and was assured my order would be safe, but I was very sick. I don’t believe the sauce is gluten free, and I don’t trust that they are very knowledgeable about cross contamination or gluten ingredients.

The staff said there was no gluten free menu but did offer the gf bun. However only one cook knew all the items and they had already made my mom’s order before telling her that the sauce was not gf and that the cheese could be contaminated. I have the Frankfurt and I’m not sure now, after eating it, if it was safe. I would suggest asking about every ingredient specifically. This review was from a year ago but here’s an update: after we ate here we both were really glutened bad! Just because it says gluten free bun doesn’t mean they do anything else right

Having Celiac Disease, it’s hard finding a restaurant that understands this illness. The Manager here greeted me with a smile and was so sweet. He understood the importance of changing gloves, gluten free bread and even added to my telling him that I had Celiac, “Our fries are fried in a dedicated fryer”. I came to dinner thirty minutes before their closing time and all the employees didn’t seem to mind and was friendly. I worked at a restaurant for years and remember that feeling when people would come in right before closing. Tonight is my second visit here in one week, because of these aforementioned reasons. Brian was the manager who understood me and my needs. I am grateful for him and this place, Johnny’s Charcoal Broiler.
Yes
Would give it five stars but they kept their GF me Menu behind the counter hanging on the wall, out of view, and read it to me rather than letting me look at it to ponder. Later I started wondering if the fries were really GF. They had GF Udis buns and the burger and fries were wonderful.

It’s nice to have a “fast food” place that offers a gluten-free burger bun, even though it costs an extra $2.50

Manager was great and very knowledgeable. Manager told me they usually store their bacon on bread, so always ask for fresh bacon. Nima tested and approved. Update: the manager has changed and the last three times I’ve gotten food there Nima has said gluten found. The manager is literally unresponsive. He won’t make eye contact or talk to me or the employees when he’s told gluten free The impatience is all over his face. Guess I won’t be trying again.
