Kawaii Tori Sushi

We ordered the sushi sashimi combo and the staff told us that one of the selections has gluten so was replaced with Tuna Roll. Everything in the combo platter was great! We also placed GF vegetarian Futo and they were good. They provided us with GF spaces soysauce for our take out.

I sat at the bar one night and fiancé noticed that sushi chefs were spraying their gloves with regular soy sauce prior to making all the rolls, including mine which I specified needs to be gluten-free.

Half of the food can be made gluten free but I dont believe it’s celiac-safe since they’re spraying gloves with soy sauce. I wish it was because i really enjoyed this sushi but it made sense why I was getting sick after eating here.

The staff was really helpful and knowledgeable about preparation (rolls made on separate plates). They knew exactly which sauces had gluten and what rolls I should avoid. They even made some awesome suggestions. When I got there I was given gluten free soy sauce and cautioned not to eat the soy sauce in the pre-wrapped utensils. Their attention to detail prevented me from getting sick.

Most sushi is gluten free and they can make some modifications on the specialty rolls and other menu items. Classic rolls are tasty, but the Naruto roll (modified to be gf) was bland. Also disappointed that their ginger dressing has gluten! So only salad available gf would be lettuce without dressing (when pressed they did offer their house spicy sauce as a dressing). They also provided gluten-free soy sauce and were very knowledgeable on the phone when I placed the order. Will definitely order again as its a nice local option.
