Great local spot with knowledgeable staff who are always willing to help you make a dish allergen friendly. I’ve eaten here many times and have never gotten sick. Fryer not gf unless you request a clean batch of oil on a slow night. I do not eat the chips. Chicken mole and carne seca are my favorites.

Food wise: most of the menu is gluten free although the fryer isn't. Owner/chef said they fry the chips early in the morning but if you're celiac he was not clear if they clean it for that or put new oil in.
Honestly the food was really good, (had green chicken enchiladas)and I want to support small mom and pop business but the owner mocked me and said "I put extra gluten in them, can you taste it?" So rude.

Almost all menu choices are gluten free! I had excellent corn tacos with chicken, rice, and beans. Very nice waiter too!

Surprised La Indita hasn’t been mentioned here before. A Tucson classic and they understand gluten. I asked the host if they could accommodate a “severe gluten allergy” and he immediately listed off what did and didn’t have gluten — not his first rodeo, and they had a protocol in place. However… our buser brought chips out and I asked if they were cooked in a dedicated fryer and she said yes. I felt iffy and waited for the server who said they were absolutely NOT from a dedicated fryer. Everything else was perfect and my tamale plate was delicious. Definitely possible to eat here if you’re in the mood to ask a few questions.
