Review of Lidia's Kansas City

I have eaten at Lidia's KC twice in the past 4 months without any gluten reaction. The friendly staff is knowledgeable and can advise regarding menu selections, although gluten-free options are also indicated with "GF" on the standard menu. Several good meal choices, including GF desserts. I consider this a safe place for celiacs, but as always, it pays to be alert to potential exposure. For example, today our server identified a dessert as gluten-free, but it had a vanilla-whiskey ingredient and whiskey can be made from corn, barley, or wheat. I avoided that dessert option, but there were other safe ones. Today's lunch bill came to $75 for two entrees (which included soup or salad), complimentary water, two desserts, and one coffee, plus a generous tip. Service and decor are superb.
