Shared fryer so chips are not safe for celiac Tried a second time and server told us chips were gluten free and they are not. Staff are not trained. This place is not safe for food allergies! Do not recommend!

I was out in Alabama for an event at the Valley Hotel and grabbed some lunch with family while waiting for our room. The server was super helpful in providing options for meals I could have. I got the Smoked Chicken Bowl and got a Watermelon Margarita and it was absolutely delicious. I didn’t try their tacos but she did say that would also be a great option, I would just clarify that the shell is cooked separately since they have homemade flour and corn tortillas.

Shared frier and lots of potential cross contamination since the staff isn’t trained well for gf. I got very sick when I went here. I would definitely avoid it

The waiter recommended I get the pinto beans instead of black beans since those are cooked in lard. He made sure my fish taco was grilled, not fried. And he told me that they make their tortillas homemade here! The corn tortillas were great.

For quite a while after Little Donkey opened, it was very hit or miss based on the server. The past few times I've been in, it has been much better. I typically order the picado salad with pork or chicken—The texture of their chicken is very good and I really like the pickled onions in the salad.
I chose not to eat here after looking through the menu and talking with the waitress. The waitress was not familiar with celiac or how to discuss cross-contamination concerns, which was a problem since the menu has a mix of meal options that do and don't have gluten. After checking in with the kitchen, she confirmed that they don't have dedicated prep space or friers, and was still unclear enough in the way she talked about gluten free to show that there was a disconnect about how much of a concern cross contamination would be for me.
My wife (not-GF) liked her food, and we both enjoyed our drinks. Service was very slow.
No
No gluten free menu. Tortilla shells are made from corn, they have burrito bowls, and there is a plate option but I would err on the side of caution.
I got sick there from careless wait staff.
No
No gluten free menu available for viewing. Hostess said the waitress would know the celiac friendly options, the waitress looked at me like I was crazy and said she'd check with the kitchen. She came back a little but later and rattled off a couple caveats: no chips and nothing fried. Since I was so uncomfortable with the lack of knowledge, I wound up getting a salad, which was excellent and didn't make me ill at all. If the staff had been more knowledgeable, I'd have given them 5 stars for the food.
Wow! Delicious food, nice atmosphere, and lots of options for GF. Also, horchata is AMAZING!!! Just like I remembered from Guatemala!
We are dairy, soy and gluten free. Excellent food and service. Waiter was very knowledgeable. Kitchen manager came out and talked w is about specific menu items.
Yes
NOT FOR CELIACS! Almost the whole menu is gluten free, but cross contamination is a big issue. The food is delicious, very fresh Mexican style, and the meat is smoked southern style. It's delicious, but every time I go, I get sick.
