Although they may have a gluten free menu it is not separated from gluten whatsoever. The marked items are things that happen to not have gluten in ingredients. I got a gluten free burrito bowl and it was served with a side of chips that were gluten and one chip was even inside the dish. The staff was not very knowledgeable about gluten allergies at all. The food was good but as a celiac I certainly would not recommend.

The waitress was very sweet and assured me they do not cook their gluten free foods in anything that could have gluten particles. The food was great too.

As many are reporting, they promote a GF menu. I spoke with the manager who then talked with kitchen. Regardless of the discussions, I ordered from the GF items and got sick. I will not be going back.

Update 2
New owners, the fryer is back, markings are fixed, more options and delicious margaritas!
**UPDATE** SEVERAL ITEMS MARKED GLUTEN FREE (on their website) ARE NOT GLUTEN FREE. The Bahn Mi and beef tacos are not gluten free due to soy sauce used in marinades. They NO LONGER have a separate fryer for chips. According to them they ‘cook the chips first thing in new oil and clean the fryers every night’ idk about you but what if they run out of chips and make some halfway through the day? What if they don’t clean the fryers well enough? I have lost any trust in them on actually identifying if something is gluten free or not. It sucks because it was a great place to go for awhile.

Great Mexican food with gf options!

Sadly I have to change my original review. Fries are not fried in dedicated fryer. Also they've now added soy sauce to their steak marinade, so that's now unsafe. Both of these maddening tidbits of info came directly from the manager. Allegedly GF Pork nachos came up Gluten Found on the Nima. Refried beans and rice came up all smiles on the Nima and were tasty. Unfortunately, overall it was unsafe and we won't be going back to Loco Coco's. ☹
Previous review : One of the best restaurants we've ever been to regardless of gluten! Words cannot do it justice! So many naturally gluten free choices. Eat here! Get the California fries. We're going to make the 90 minute drive to Kittery just to eat here. Go here now!

Had dinner here after searching for a GF restaurant. Went based on the reviews here. I got the steak burrito bowl. Was great. No sickness. Sat at bar. Def return.
The food was delicious! Good size portions and a dedicated fryer with a gf menu!

I have celiacs disease and was told that all fried food items are gluten free except shrimp, verifying that no gluten containing items were place in the deep fryer used for French fries. I wondered why I felt so sick after eating at your establishment, and it is because your taquitos (which are marked gluten free online but are NOT according to your waitress because of the 'paste' used to hold the taquitos together) are placed in the same fryer, meaning anything placed in that fryer is cross contaminated. I don't expect any restaurant to cater to my restrictions but if you are marking your products gluten free and I verify with waitstaff that they are in fact gluten free, the product should be gluten free. You can make any person with my autoimmune disease incredibly sick.

great to have safe Mexican food. had some nachos and tacos. Definitely worth a visi.

Amazing food! Perhaps the best tortilla chips I've ever had which is why we drive all the way from Boston for the steak nachos!! We've tried many things on the menu and have never experienced a bad reaction! I know I'm over doing the exclamation marks, but they deserve it!!!!!!!

The all time best nachos I've ever had. The burrito bowls are awesome as well.

Ate here 2 nights in a row. First night, cantina side. 2 barbacoa, 1 ground beef taco. Second night, dining room. Enchiladas verdes with chicken, chips and salsa, papaya margarita. The enchiladas were so delicious, barbacoa too. Being able to eat with your friends and be confident you won't get sick is priceless. All menu items are labeled gf or not.

Great options. Mexican food should be easy to make GF and Loco Coco's knocks it out of the park. Great hot sauce selection, too!

many gf options. love the steak salad.
The food is great and the menu is mostly gluten free. Everything is clearly labeled and the staff is easy to communicate with. I've only eaten here once, but had the chance to speak with another person with Celiac who eats there frequently and they said its a safe place. The corn tortillas aren't made in house, but they are GF. They are used to make the chips as well, which are celiac safe as well. I had the chicken tacos, and the nachos are also recommended.

I love this place. There food is amazing but the atmosphere very casual. The menu clearly marks what is gluten- free. I had a chicken tostada and a beef taco. Both were delicious. Can't wait to go back!
Clearly a local favorite (check out their parking lot at 5:00 on a of for-season weeknight), and their reputation is well-deserved. Wonderful food!
