My server was very aware about Gluten Free diets. I was offered a few great options. The food was great. No issues. I will be back!

Celiac

We’ve been eating at Lucharitos on trips to the North Fork for years before being diagnosed with celiac and had a great experience on our first trip back. Our waitress was knowledgeable about gluten intolerance and assured us the kitchen had experience and protocols for celiac disease. All tacos are able to be made on soft or hard corn tortillas. The tortilla chips are made in a shared fryer but the restaurant let us bring our own bag for the guacamole. Highly recommended. UPDATE - on our next visit we asked the waitress for guacamole without chips because of the shared fryer and let her know that we had brought our own bag. The kitchen sent out a bowl of chips that we could safely enjoy with the guacamole by breaking up a bunch of their hard taco shells (which are GF and made offsite). Such a thoughtful, creative and appreciated gesture.

Celiac

Knowledge of gluten-free is high, but the meal I got was contaminated. Now I am exquisitely sensitive. I am unable to stock shelves in my food coop for 2-3/4 hours without getting a reaction immediately afterwards. I stayed far away from the aisle where there is bulk flour in silos, but there was still enough gluten in the air.

Back to Lucharitos. The reaction was many hours later. I ordered the burrito bowl. The waitress knew that the corn chips were cooked in the same oil as wheat products. She instead offered me taco shells broken up. My best guess is the gloves were not changed, and the gloves that handled burritos were used to break up the taco shells and put them on my plate.

Due to kitchen contamination, a Tex-Mex restaurant would never be my first choice.

The chips are the best I’ve ever had! Get the chip trio appetizer and you will not be disappointed. I had the mahi mahi taco with corn tortillas. They also have hard corn shells as well. Margaritas are perfect. I had the strawberry and watermelon mint.
