This place is amazing and a staple for anyone in the Ankeny area. You can easily substitute any sandwich with gluten free buns or bread. Every time I have asked for a gf bun the employees have asked if I have celiac. Also they have a lot of sweet gf treats too!!

I have delayed reactions, so I’m not sure if I got glutened and fairly sure I didn’t, but I left feeling unsafe and unlikely to return.

I stated several times when ordering that I needed to order gluten free, and they brought me my soup with gluten croutons. Thankfully I asked, but it was only because my soup looked just like my husband’s, which was not ordered to be gluten free.

Then we got cake, which was excellent, but it made me question whether it was actually gf. It took three people to find someone who could actually confirm it was gf. There was no marking on the cake itself.

I don’t feel safe enough to return and wanted to urge caution for others too.

This was my first time here based on reading reviews on the app. Their menu is marked with a GS for gluten sensitive items. They have a good amount of yummy gluten sensitive deserts too. I had the carrot cake. Yummy!! I also had the Blackened Shrimp Rice Bowl. They allowed me to take out other allergen items for it. They're knowledgeable about substitutes and options too. I'll be back to try a gluten free bun and a sandwich sometime. My boyfriend who's not gluten free had the new apple burger, Wicked Thai Chicken & Rice Soup, and a chocolate raspberry cake and a drink. It was about $35 for both. Food was good, decent amount, and staff were helpful.

Update July 15th, 2023 this has become a regular eatery for us!! We've also gotten my parents hooked on it too. We're part of their loyalty rewards program too. The manager cares and tries hard to be safe. He told me today someone had issues with the Ms Vicky's chips (salt & vinegar.). He wanted me to be aware as he knew I have Celiacs.Ive never had them here though. My All Iowa scramble was delicious today too.

Their gluten free cookies are amazing!! the peanut butter one specifically:) they have gluten free bread so you can sub any of their sandwiches. the staff knew a lot about the gluten free items! i got the steak rice bowl but had to take out one of the sauces and it was amazing!!

Do not miss. They make their own GF bread with a beautiful texture. Their GF sandwiches are made in a separate area of the kitchen. It is a dedicated area but not a dedicated GF facility. But the GF chocolate cake…….

Alex was very knowledgeable about Celiac disease, definitions of gluten free and friendly, and the menu. He explained that they switch gloves and use dedicated cooking equipment for GF orders. He was also able to tell me how to modify dishes on the menu that weren't marked GF to make them safe for me to eat. There was a lot to choose from! They offer gluten free bread and buns, and they have a case full of GF bakery items baked fresh this morning. I had the Parmesan Roast Beef Melt and a side salad with greek dressing. I also bought a bunch of bakery items (donuts that aren't frozen? Yay!!) and even a second dish to take home with me for lunch tomorrow. It's been about 3 hours and not even one tummy grumble.

Don’t come on a holiday. Traveling through town on Mother’s Day and found them on this app... while standing in line one worker gave me a menu & seemed really nice about answering my GF questions, then at the register and they said they weren’t using the menu she gave us, so asked what my opinions were... ordered the French toast... after sitting at the table for 20-30 minutes someone came out and said they couldn’t do what I ordered GF... then I picked something else. Got food 53 minutes after ordering! (At a “fast” place you order at the counter). The gf chocolate cake was very good, everything else was normal quality. A worker did voluntarily give me a partial refund on my chocolate cake...

We love this place! It’s the only place we can go and all get something different multiple times. So many gluten free options! Be sure to tell them that you are celiac and they will be super careful!

They have amazing gf desserts, broccoli cheddar soup, and breakfast scrambles! Associates are friendly and knowledgeable, love this place !

They have a fabulous gluten free menu and always ask if it is an allergy. I love a grilled sandwich with Smoked bacon, smoked turkey, cheese, avocado and a wonderful mayo. Plus they always have homemade soup that is gluten free plus a choice of desserts that change daily. It’s soooo good!!!

I was so excited to take my kids here based on the reviews of this app. When we got there and said the kids had Celiac we were quickly told it’s not a dedicated bakery and it’s up to us on how sensitive we were. My gut said walk out, and I wish we would have. But instead the kids both choose a gluten free bakery item (cake and cookie) and they both were sick because of it. So sad!

Fantastic. Asked right away if we were celiac or preference. Panini with GF bread was fresh and very yummy. Several desserts to choose from too. Love finding great places when we travel that the whole family can enjoy. Super grateful for this app and everyone’s reviews.

Main Street Bakery is able to prepare any of their sandwiches or flatbreads on Udi's gluten free bread. I have enjoyed a breakfast sandwich, taco flatbread, and soup. It was also exciting to eat a delicious chocolate donut with sprinkles...I love that Main Street caters to all allergens. Highly recommend for brunch or dinner!

He guided us to which items to choose from and even showed us when the condiments were located. Had a nice bacon and cheese omelet with potatoes and toasted GF bread. I’d go back again! The staff was super knowledgeable about gluten free food. They use Udi’s multi grain for their sandwiches, etc and they put foil on the grill before making the gf food. They also had an assortment of gf bakery. I had a delicious chocolate cake!

We recently discovered this local treasure...it has a great selection of gf items and they are very conscientious of celiac/ allergy. Everything we have tried has been wonderful. Since they are also a bakery, they have delicious treats like cookies and bars for dessert. Highly recommend it!!

Such a great place with fast service, good variety, knowledgeable staff and very kid friendly as well. It is always refreshing to eat somewhere that really understands what eating out with Celiac Disease means instead of pretending to train their staff. We will definitely be eating here whenever we are in town.
