I feel like the food here is pretty safe unless you eat one of the burger buns or something—apparently the owner’s wife has celiac. I had a burger with no bun and fries with no issues. Fries were great. I asked about any wheat products going in the same oil and they said it wouldn’t be an issue because they only use rice flour. I’d give a very strong review based on that. However, I’d be very cautious with any of their beers that they claim are “unofficially” gluten reduced. I even emailed and had someone get back to me with a list of beers including Hoppenheimer. I tried a sip of it and it was very tasty, so I bought a 6-pack to take home (I was in the road so not going to drink a beer with dinner). I had throat-clearing reflux for about the next half hour or so, which is almost certainly a sign for me of having gotten some gluten. I was fine before the sip of beer. If a sip does that to me, I’d be reluctant to try a whole beer, and now I have 6. Your mileage may vary, but I suggest if you think you want to take the risk and try one, ask for a sample sip and wait a bit before ordering a whole beer. I was so excited to potentially have an IPA I could drink that I didn’t wait long enough.
