Loved the experience of a totally gluten-free shop. Amazing tastes & variety
This place is amazing! We had cookies (chocolate chip and molasses), cinnamon rolls, the Californian, the Reuben, a BLT, maple pecan Bundt (amazing), bagels, and pumpkin whoopie pies! Everything was delicious. We went for breakfast and lunch and there is actual seating at this location (San Fran ferry building does not have seating other than outside or in the general mall). There were so many choices that were also DF (and latex free). Highly recommend. Would eat here all of the time if I could! The staff was very friendly here and helpful. Wish we would have gotten the apple galette when we were there for breakfast because they were all gone by the time we went back for lunch. The only thing we wanted but we couldn't have because of the dairy was the pumpkin pie - wish they would make a dairy free version. Highly recommend!
Cinnamon rolls were amazing. Their rye bread tastes like rye. Super brownies.
All GF! Enough said:) not just one yesterday's muffin sad and isolated.
Wonderland. Literally, overwhelming. It was so great to have options. THE BEST CINNAMON ROLLS EVER! You can't even tell the difference. It was all amazing. We almost got through without my husband seeing the full hanging menu, but he had a bit of a shock when he looked ip. Very attentive and patient staff. Maybe the best part of the trip.
Dedicated gluten free! They make passable replacements for a lot of gluten containing items celiacs might be missing. Good bread and lasagna, others recommend the pizza crust.
I went in recently and got pecan pie, butternut squash ravioli, bagels, and a cinnamon roll. Everything was delicious so I am giving 5 stars. A few complaints - the crust for the pie was not that great but the filling more than made up for it! The bagels were a little gummy but still quite good. The ravioli was amazing and the cinnamon roll was perfect! I've never been a fan of their bread so I don't buy it.
5 stars just for existing, really. So many wonderful options on the menu from pot pie to a Reuben sandwich. Fresh breads are soft and baked goods are fresh. Chocolate croissants, bagels, soft pretzels and tons of sugary buns to boot.
Amazing gluten free empanadas, croissants, breads, pies, and cookies! I ate here based on the reviews and I am so impressed with their products! Wish they had a store front in So Cal! I will be ordering products online!
Not only does everything they sell look incredible, it all tastes just as delicious! Visiting this bakery was like a dream. I ate half of what I ordered from the bakery while I was still there ogling over all the items they have for sale. So I got back in line and bought even more of everything I had just scarfed down. Mariposa Bakery sells everything from croutons, baguettes, croissants, challah, rye bread, cupcakes, cakes, brownies, pies, bagels, poptarts, cookies, graham crackers, biscotti, cinnamon rolls, bread rolls, focaccia, sandwiches, salads, lasagne, empanadas, pizza, and chicken pot pie! It's difficult not to want to buy everything in site when you visit this bakery! I can't wait to go back to San Francisco and explore more of the city's Celiac safe spots.
Not just gf, but so many egg free, vegan, soy free options as well! Best gf bread I've tasted! LOVE this place!! Love how the website lists ingredients for each item and in store it's all clearly marked as well!
Meaning, "butterf ly" in Spanish, this bakery helps people adapt a gluten-free lifestyle and transform their lives through food. enjoy fresh breads, bagels, cakes and cookies made available to pick up or to order online, you can have your favorite gluten-free dishes mailed right to your door.
What's not to love? I'm a gluten freeK! So many options. Soft pretzel would have been better if they warmed it up. But let's be honest, great environment to have some delicious pastries and enjoy your day. Weird location... Lil bit...
Everything in the store is labeled for gluten, dairy, soy and nut allergies. How does it get better than entire bakery that has no gluten in it!
Best gluten free!!
Cinammon rolls !!!
the best. I drive here about once a month to stock up on breads, pizza, croissants, dessert. while I'm there I treat myself to lunch! either a tuna melt or pizza or other sandwich and salad.
Not great for people with tummy sensitivities on top of gluten allergies. They use a lot of yeast in their dough, which makes me feel lethargic. I wish I could eat their goodies!
This bakery has everything! I can't eat dairy soy or gluten and I had so many options! Had a bagel and a Danish and both were delicious, also got a vanilla strawberry cake which was good, too. The bagel and Danish were so close to the "real" thing! You have to go to this place. They also had focaccia, challah, muffins, etc.
This is hands down the best sandwich bread I've ever had. Really everything so far has been delicious. I am glad to have vegan options but I'm surprised at how much dairy they use... Why no Daiya cheese for pizzas? Sometimes I feel like the vegan options are an afterthought, like those options just happen to be vegan. Why no vegan "rye" bread? I love this place and am glad I've never gotten sick, but the luster has worn off a bit (oh, the privilege of being so near to a truly gf bakery!) and now I'd like to see more vegan options. Also, I recently found a giant hair in a yummy tart and it really bummed me out.
The absolute BEST GF bakery ever!! And now an even more expanded space in Oakland!! A must stop on our way to the Napa Valley to pick up some GF baguettes to taste some wines. :-) We are from Denver and would love to have you open a bakery there......please?
The absolute best gluten free baked goods.
Can't beat getting GF breads and other goodies straight from the bakery!
It's so fun to go somewhere you can get anything! I've had some amazing things and some ok things. Best things have been the salted caramel cupcake, the pumpkin whoopie pie, & the German chocolate cake. All of these were fantastic & tasted normal! I love the ever changing items, I'm always trying something new.
AMAZING. I was only visiting the area but decided to check this place out, and wow it did not disappoint. The lemon poppyseed and pumpkin chocolate chip muffins were delicious, and the texture was so unlike GF stuff I get anywhere else. The loaf of bread I got was actually soft! Also got apricot danish and nutmeal raisin cookies, which were delicious. Other products I saw were bagels, crackers, croutons, cinnamon rolls, and cakes. They ship all over the country so I will definitely be looking into that.
What more can be said that hasn't already? Mariposa is amazing. The lunch items are super fun and the desserts are ultra tasty. Prep times for prepared food are generally slow, so don't assume you can zip in and out (although you might be able to!), but I love them anyway. :-)
AMAZING!!!! I'm here now, it's my first time and this food is beyond amazing!!! Makes you forget you even have a gluten allergy!! The only bad thing, is I live an hour away from here!!! Best gluten free food I've EVER had!!
Such delicious GF goodies. Plus they have GF and vegan treats for those with multiple sensitivities. I was very excited to find their cream-filled cupcakes in Whole Foods in Lafayette so I don't have to drive far to get my fix.
Fantastic crackers, burger buns, and brownies. I'm not a fan of their pizza crusts and their prices can be a bit high. If you see gnocchi grab it as it disappears for months.
So many wonderful choices! I just wish they'd come to the south bay!
A painful amount of xanthan gum. I'll pass.
Awesome. Can't beat a 100% GF establishment. The chocolate chip cookies, beet ball subs, pizzas, and soft pretzels are my current favs. As with most GF food, it is more pricey than average food, but I would rather pay the premium for super safe treats. THANK YOU MARIPOSA!!!
awesome gluten free bagels!
I love their beet burger and chocolate chip cookies. My only complaint is I wish they served a meat burger!
From cupcakes to pizza to gnocchi and ravioli, this is a Celiac's dream! I go here to shop and stock up for home, and for lunch. I love love love this place. It makes me feel like I can still have great food. The wine shop next door carries tons of GF
my favorite place ever!! I've been going here since I got diagnosed with Celiacs. The Chocolate Pinguinos are to die for and the take home and bake cheese and margarita pizzas are too. They just opened a restraunt in the Ferry building in San Francisco march2012. Its open 7 days a week. All of their breads and cookies are great too. Also you can find their products in whole foods. T
Mariposa is a strictly gluten free bakery that serves freshly made bread, baguettes, pizza, pasta, cakes, and pastries. They also serve various gfree food items for breakfast and lunch as well as offer grab n' go sandwiches if you just want to pop in and get out for a quick on the go lunch. These sell quickly though, so if you're planning to stop by and grab some lunch, it's best to come early! They also have a bread schedule so if you want a particular type of bread you can either come in that day or pre-order what you want. Breads include: baguettes, sandwich rolls, sandwich bread, focaccia, multi-grain bread, hot dog buns, rosemary rolls, and cinnamon raisin bread. We were able to try some samples, provided very generously by the owner and founder of Mariposa, and I can tell you now that the samples were so good, you can't tell it's gfree! Let me just say, their bread is INCREDIBLE! The texture is just like regular gluten filled artisan bread and the dough is soft and chewy-the way artisan bread should be. Their chocolate chip cookies are to die for. Seriously. We heard from the owner that the chocolate chip cookie recipe was being continuously tweaked for 5 years until they finally got the right balance of chewy and crunchy. That was probably the best chocolate chip cookie I've ever had!
I always go when I am in town. Fabulous little place. Can take a while during peak hours. But worth the wait.
Just bought a package of their delicious Russian Tea cookies!
Wonderful bake goods!
Love this bakery. Food is top notch. amazing beetloaf sandwich our pizza by the slice for lunch. Delicious tarts and bagels and muffins for breakfast. The nutmeal raisin cookie is yummy, so is their carrot cake. The only problem is they are so popular that their staff can't quite keep up. During busy times, the water jug is always empty and food can take awhile. I go there daily when I'm in the bay area though.
I've heard great things about this 100% gluten free establishment!
