Review of Mary's Restaurant

You wouldn't expect this southern-style restaurant to be so gluten-friendly, but it was impressive. Serves breakfast and lunch, 6-3. They have which items can be prepared GF clearly marked on menu with a GF symbol. GF items included Belgium waffle (freshly cooked), sandwich bread, wraps, and burger buns - thus, many of items on the menu could be prepared GF, especially breakfast, which is served all day. Plus omelets, bacon, etc. The staff was knowledgable and assured me that they have a dedicated GF waffle iron, and the menu notes that “they try to keep their gluten-free items separate”. It sounds like most of their breads were Udi’s; the waffle mix (she showed me) was Golden Malted GF Pancake and Waffle Mix. They had a pre-packaged brownie and choc chip cookie at the checkout counter, which were “David’s” brand. Server said they dont do pancakes since their griddle isnt big enough for a dedicated area (which tells me they are trying to do things safely!). The GF Belgium waffle cost $1 extra (regular waffle $4.99), which wasn't noted on the menu. Very warm, friendly staff.
