If you have questions, ask to speak to the manager. The wait staff was not fully up to speed on their gluten-free protocols, but otherwise was very good.

Manager indicated they have a dedicated kitchen space, with specific ingredient tubs, etc. Cooks are required to wash hands and change gloves before handling the gluten free items. They cover the pizza disc(?) in foil and use a dedicated gluten-free pizza cutter.

The manager also indicated that one of their staff has some level of gluten sensitivity, so they have learned a lot through that individual. I think it shows.

Two of our party are celiac, and neither had any negative reactions.

Definitely plan to return.

We always enjoyed Mattenga's before finding out my daughter has Celiac disease. We were so happy that they have gluten free options. I talked with the manager there and they confirmed that the gluten-free pizzas are prepared separately. I like the Big Matt, and the Pothole Pizza is amazing as well. Their toppings are so good that you don't really pay as much attention to the crust. However, I really liked their gluten-free crust. Has a great flavor and crispness. So glad we can still go there.

Unfortunately, the New Braunfels location made my Celiac daughter, 8 years old, VERY sick. NOT recommended for Celiac!

Awesome staff understood immediately what steps needed to be taken for celiac preparation of the pizza. Pizza tasted incredible. Service was fast and friendly. 100% would recommend.

Yummo! Pizza in schertz that a celiac can eat??? Thrilled to have found this place! Staff very knowledgeable and helpful. Pizza was great, we will be back. Loved the Hawaiian pizza!

Celiac friendly?

I am not celiac but my boys are. This pizza place offers gluten free pizza crust options for an small additional cost. They take great precaution to minimize cross contamination. On request, they will change gloves, they will change the grate that the pizza is cooked on and they will place the crust on foil while it is being prepared. After the pie is cooked, they also change out the cutter. Their gluten free pizzas are delicious!!
