Have been glutened the past 4 times I’ve eaten here. Chef comes out each time and talks about how they made sure it was gluten free & safe, unfortunately I still get sick.

I’ve eaten at MWD’s around the state regularly, and it seems they commonly have new kitchen staff regardless of location. More than once I’ve seen a newbie drop normal chicken in the “gluten free” fryer and the staff had to spend an hour cleaning the machine & reheating oil.

As much as the gesture is appreciated, you can’t truly clean a deep fryer in that short an amount of time. The amount of times I’ve been CC’d here shows.

I was so excited to eat here after reading all the wonderful reviews! I ordered the GF fried chicken and got SO sick! 😠 I even told the server I had Celiacs and he said I should be fine. I’m usually ok eating at restaurants as long as they try to be careful with cross contamination. My family and I are here on vacation just for the weekend so I’m super disappointed!

Great gluten free fried chicken. It is served on mashed potatoes topped with collard greens. So delicious! They have a separate fryer for the gluten free fried chicken.

Awesome fried chicken but somehow ended up getting glutened. You must indicate that you have Celiacs because they have gluten friendly items that aren’t safe for Celiacs. Somehow cross contamination occurred.

Was nervous at first, because let’s be honest, how often do you truly find GOOD gluten free fried chicken? Well I’ve found it. I’ve eaten here twice now and had their fried chicken both times, didn’t get sick either time. (And I’m very sensitive to cross contamination.) Hands down some of the best fried chicken I’ve ever had. All the food in general is of fantastic quality and tastes amazing. The server was knowledgeable about Celiac. He told me they have the people in the kitchen change gloves when handling gluten free food orders and they have a dedicated fryer. Is it a tad pricey? Yes. But it’s worth every penny. They give you three big pieces of chicken with it. So so so good. I encourage everyone to try it.

This place is amazing! They have THE best gluten free fried chicken I have ever had. Delicious seasoning on the chicken with a tiny tiny bit of heat and it was so juicy! The mashed potatoes and collard greens were also amazing. I went with my mom (celiac) and sister (gluten sensitive) none of us got sick and my dad (who had the regular non-gf fried chicken) thought the chicken was amazing. Our waiter assured us that they have a separate fryer for the gf chicken- though he did caution that it is not a completely gf kitchen so there is always some risk of cross contamination (none of us got sick and I am very sensitive to cross contamination). The service was also excellent- our waiter was very attentive and friendly. Sous chef robert came out to check on how the food was and when we went back later that night for wine he remembered us and came over to chat. Being from the north we are not used to that wonderful southern hospitality!! Definite must for gluten free fried chicken in Austin!

When I told the server I was celiac, he was extremely responsive and reassuring in letting me know they take precautions to avoid cc. Chef Rob also came out and spoke to us, telling me that he will handle my food start to finish and I will be safe. I was and it was amazing. I had an omelet and America fries, I did not get sick. He was awesome and so was the experience.

The food was amazing, I must say that first. But when I told our waiter my girlfriend had celiac and she will get really sick with cross contamination, he brought out a cheese board with the bread sitting on top of the cheeses/food. When we requested it to be fixed, he seemed to get annoyed. But the gluten free fried chicken was definitely all it was cracked up to be!

Just ask the waiter what’s actually gluten free because for some reason they label their stuff on their menu GF “Gluten friendly ” which isn’t exactly gluten free on some of the items.

Had a very memorable, delicious meal here, just a block from the convention center! I had the GF fried chicken salad and it was absolutely perfect. Would go again in a heartbeat. Note that some of their items are done in shared fryers -- wanted to tried the fried deviled eggs but they are done in a shared fryer. (GF chicken is separate/safe.)

I'm a celiac and tried this restaurant visiting Austin. The sous chef Rob came out to let me know they had an potential contamination issue and they were changing the fryer's oil. He then sent out a complimentary plate of amazing made in-house gluten free crackers, fruit and cheese. Service and food are fantastic.

Owner is celiac and they take gluten free seriously. The manager Ryan was very friendly and helpful. I also have allergies to alliums (onion and garlic) and he talked to the chef and came back with 3 recommendations. They could do a burger or their grilled chicken. I got the latter with mashed potatoes and it was wonderful. 3 hours later not throwing up, so I know it was safe. Mellow restaurant bar near the convention center. Good selection of wine and beer on tap. Not too crowded or too loud. I would go back again for sure.

For the first time I enjoyed the pleasure of having gluten free fried chicken with mash potatoes and greens. The chicken was simply delicious. Very nice atmosphere and the music was great. Look forward to going back. The gentleman that took our order, very knowledgeable about what is happening downtown Austin. We had an extra great time because of his information.
