They had a gluten-free menu. I enjoyed the food and didn't have any problems with it afterwards. I did not eat the chips and salsa.

I thought they had a gluten free fryer because one waiter said so, but with further investigation i was assured that the chips WERE fried with everything else. The chips were on the gluten free menu so it concerned me about the "gluten free-ness" of everything else on the gf menu. I ended up getting tacos and didn't get sick but I probably won't return since I dont know the level of cross contamination...

Amazing! Great service and the staff is knowledgeable of GF. Just so all know- the previous comment is not applicable to this Mazatlan. The chips are in a dedicated fryer and are 100% gluten free. I am super sensitive and I have NEVER had a problem at this location.

When I called to inquire, I was informed that Mazatlan's one fryer is cleaned daily and that new oil is used daily. The corn chips are all fried first thing in the morning and are placed in a warmer. Anything else that is fried in the fryer is only done after all the chips for the day have been fried. I was also informed that they know the quantity of corn chips needed and that they never run out and therefore do not need to fry additional corn chips later in the day. This process enables them to refer to the corn chips as "gluten free" but they do acknowledge that there is no separate designated fryer in the kitchen.

Ate here at Christmas time because of the mention of dedicated fryer and I can't bear Mexican without corn chips. Glad I asked because they said they use the same fryer for everything. So I stuck with an order of shrimp, which I probably wouldn't do now that I have been GF for awhile - they make them in a case iron pan, which doesn't really get washed.
We just ordered off their "Gluten Free" menu. As I started to eat the Cajun fajitas, I noticed what tasted like soy. It was. Wheat based soy sauce. They didn't act like it was a big deal at all. Do not trust this establishment.
(This is for Mazatlan not to be confused with Mazatlan II)
The GF menu is great! I never expected there to be so many choices. The best part is that they DO fry chips in a dedicated fryer, as I was told by an employee. I got the shrimp enchilada and did not get even one bit sick :)

I've always loved mazatlans! I want to note though that if you are celiac you should stay away from the chips because they use a shared fryer. I learned this the hard way.
