Mellow Mushroom has been safe for me so far! They also happen to have the best gluten free pizza I’ve ever had. I got the GF Kosmic Karma pizza and had my non-GF friends wishing they’d ordered it instead of theirs.

Amazing Place. They have 4 different types of Pizza that can be made Gluten-free AND dairy free. They are very careful about cross-contamination.

With some of the reviews I was scared. Ended up not having a problem! Told the waitress I had celiacs and she told me that there was no need to explain that she was well trained on the issue. I was able to make my own pizza and it was DELICIOUS ! Haven’t gotten sick so I trust to go back!

I am really sad to say that this mellow mushroom does not educate their workers and their food is unsafe. I specified that my gluten free pizza was an allergy and now I’m having a huge reaction. Our waiter almost caused my mom’s regular pizza and mine to touch and his exact words were “oh it’s that seriously?”. As a former employee of Mellow Mushroom in Blowing Rock NC, I am highly disappointed with this location. Avoid it at all cost! The Boone and Blowing Rock locations are safe and owned by the same family.

They will flat out lie to you!
1 pizza size and will cost you $25. It's actually smaller now.
I was sick as a dog! I will never go back and do not recommended anyone with celiac to go here.

There are only gluten free pizzas and a brownie but the staff are very helpful about what ingredients may have cross contamination and which are safe. I had a gluten free pizza with feta, Roma tomatoes, and green pepper. My first choice were roasted peppers and ricotta cheese but our server said they may be at risk of contamination and showed me the screen of the safe options. I’d give 5 stars if the menu eliminated that step by indicating which ingredients are available to celiacs.
Yes
They clearly take gluten allergies very seriously because they shut down the line and clean it to cook the pizzas separately. They even keep certain ingredients in a separate fridge which is why certain GF ingredients are not labeled as such - because they’re in a fridge with non GF items. I thought that was pretty cool. The one drawback is the time you have to wait for your order, but not getting sick is worth it. Just be prepared to wait and if you’re eating with non GF people just go ahead and let them eat first.

The Gluten Free menus now only have pizza?
Delicious Pizza and no reaction. The problem is the time we were made to wait. We watched people who ordered long after us get their pizza eat and leave. After 45 minutes of waiting (we checked out receipt to see what time we ordered), we spoke to the manager who advised it takes longer because of the GF crust. My son had a regular pizza and it had not come out either. An hour after we ordered, I got my GF pizza and a few minutes later, my son got his regular pizza. We were refunded the price of the small regular pizza. I informed the manager that I had eaten at other Mellow Mushroom locations and not had this experience when he explained that it takes longer. Good food, and we will visit other MM locations, but not this one again. We are traveling and this set us back quite a bit.
Separate kitchen for celiacs

love their gf pizza!
Seriously the BEST gf pizza I have ever had!
Atmosphere is cool. The gluten free pizza is pretty good.
Employee asked if the GF pizza was due to an allergy or medical reason (celiac), so they Made my daughters pizza in a separate kitchen. The best GF pizza we have ever had! Will go back!

So many mixed reviews from this chain. Both WS and Greensboro locations. I think the store managers nor the employees really understand how it feels to have their stomach been in pain after eating something it should not have. It is bad alone people, like my 9 year old daughter have to deal with it, but having to pay for the diet styles hurts the wallet to. Sad they don't understand, or they would be more careful or not advertise they are gluten free and be a lie!
I knew I was sick before I even left and was in full out gluten misery by the time I got home. Perhaps I shouldn't have assumed BUT since they make such a huge deal about training and separate prep area I thought I would be safe. Wrong.
The pizza itself was very disappointing, cold when it got to me with a gummy mealy-textured crust. The taste of the crust was ok but the texture was awful. Plus they are extremely expensive for a pizza joint.
Celiacs or true gluten intolerants: DON'T RISK IT!!! Cross contamination!

Great GF beer selection
I ordered the 12inch gluten free pizza without cheese, caramelized onions, black olives and mushrooms. The pizza was ok and not my favorite dough made from sorghum, amaranth, teff and tapioca flour blend plus xanthum gum as it was a bit chewy. The Angry Orchard cider was good and the service was good too.

Went here with my GF kiddo. The staff was very friendly. Let the server know about the celiac. Told us which of the pizzas were GF. Kiddo decided on plain cheese. We were told they changed gloves, separate oven, etc., for gf. Good experience!
