Review of Merchantman Fresh Seafood & Oyster Bar

They do have a gluten free menu. I had chosen this restaurant after seeing dish I wanted on their online Gluten Free menu but it was not available on thier sit down menu even though it could be ordered gluten free online, I was disappointed. The waitress was not overly knowledgeable and had to check with the kitchen to answer many of the questions I had. She did know they did not have a dedicated fryer but did not know if they had a separate gluten free prep area or if any special handling for gluten was made. After ordering from the gluten free menu indicating I was celiac and asking several questions on food preparation I did still manage to get glutened. The hour drive back home was a little more then unpleasant. The food was ok but nothing memorable, the bun used for my smoked salmon sandwich was o'doughs (a bit heavy for the meal, knikinkiik or Promise would have been a better choice). The restaurant was not what I would call clean, window blinds next to table had thick layer of dirt, dead bugs were merged with window and there was old food on the windowsill and floor, will not be returning.
