Momcorn

Momcorn has been reborn. The original owners had sold it and the quality and service fell off drastically BUT it’s under new ownership and is back to the Momcorn we all knew and loved! They have extensive GF and Vegan menus and you can literally taste the love! If you’d left and haven’t been back lately, I would highly recommend giving it another try. I think you and your taste buds be very pleasantly surprised!

Fantastic food, separate spot for the gluten-free foods. They take their time to make sure it isn’t contaminated. Safe for Celiac; best food in Gurnee!

Update: original owners are long gone. Quality of food left with them. Not much of what I had said in my original review remains accurate unfortunately.

This place is amazing. Clear markings on what is gluten free and extra attention to detail for those with Celiac's. The food is absolutely fantastic. I recommend: flautas, fish tacos, tamales and quesadillas. Yep, they make quesadillas on their corn tortillas!

Amazing gluten-free food. We had the Nachos. It was so big of a portion, we had to take more than half home. Also, we appreciated the care that they take when you have a gluten allergy or sensitivity. We would highly recommend this place. Well worth the drive. It is a great stop if you are going to Six Flags Great America: Gurnee, IL.

I’ve had the nachos here twice now, very delicious. They are great about cross contamination, they even have a separate fryer for people who request it. You have to let them know you have celiacs and they go above and beyond to make sure your meal is safe for you. The person whom I presume was the owner I spoke with along with the fellow running the counter both understood exactly what celiacs is and were very kind/not at all annoyed. They wipe everything down before preparing your meal too, just let them know.

They used to be very conscious about cross contamination. New owners don't seem to get it. They no longer have a dedicated fryer, and gluten has crept into many items that used to be GF.

Decided to have dinner here tonight with some family. The staff/server was so helpful! My family ordered chips, guacamole and salsa. I could not have their chips due to the dedicated gluten free fryer currently being repaired. So, our server brought me a gluten free tamale, on the house. I thought it was very kind and thoughtful of her! Thank you for thinking of me! On top of that - the food was amazing! We will definitely be back!

Terrible customer service!!!! I was happy to find a SO-CALLED VEGAN restaurant, but it was too good to be true! I ordered Sope, Elotes, and strawberry tamale. I threw up from the smell of my food. I tried to taste it and it was even worst! The cheese tasted horrible like spoiled or something! The tamale was dry as ever and tasteless! I was sooo mad, because I was at work and couldn't leave to go get something different. When I called all she could do was give me store credit? Why would I want store credit when I'm not ordering from them again!!! I'm so done with them.

Very knowledgeable about gf, veggie and vegan and the menu is filled with options. Gf chips and guacamole are excellent. We made the trip specifically for the veggie mushroom jibarito and it was worth it! Skip the chocolate flan. Friendly staff. We’ll be back.

Chips and Guac were good. I'm Dairy free and GF. I ordered the steak plantain thing, and asked for no cheese and no mayo, but it was served with cheese anyway. I ate around it. I'm not celiac, and I see they cook everything on the same grill. Oh well.

The food tasted great and staff were very helpful. But I ate chips and guacamole and the pork Jibarito (both clearly marked as gf) and had one of the worst gluten reactions I've had in years! I'd recommend this place as 5 stars for the food and flavor if I wasn't celiac.

My boyfriend & I go here whenever we are craving authentic Mexican food that is safe for me to eat! (I have Celiac) I have severe sensitivities and have never once gotten sick eating here! They have dedicated fryers for you if you are gluten free, just tell them before you order! I LOVE the chilaquiles & the tacos. Yum :)

The service was great and the food tasted good but I ordered a GF kids meal only to discover half way through him eating it that it wasn't. I gave my kid antihistamines immediately as he usually breaks out in hives within an hour.

Great little place to eat. I have Celiac and am always looking for a new safe place to go! The owner and I had a conversation she is very knowledgable about cross contamination and yes they have a dedicated fryer!! I had a Puerto Rican sandwich and fries ... Haven't had one of those in many years! YUM!! I will certainly be stopping by again!

Food is excellent! Loved it! Fast service and a great option since not many fast food places have GF options. I would go back for a sit down meal! Great food! So excited to have a local restaurant with so many GF choices! And they taste good!

Amazing!!!! Great America has absolutely nothing to eat if you have gluten and/or dairy allergies. Their loss is Momcorn's gain. They have a super easy to read menu that clearly labels gf options. Their homemade tortillas and guacamole are delicious! The fish tacos and steak fajitas were incredible.

We loved the authentic food. We sampled all the tamales and had the chips and guacamole. The menu has all the gf items labeled. Would definitely go back! We ordered take out, but there is an eating area. Prices are very reasonable.
