Sharing a disappointing experience at Monroe’s restaurant in pittsford from tonight. I was encouraged because the menu has many gf options including a breaded chicken sandwich $22 which I ordered gf ( $3 up charge for gf). The menu lists Parmesan fries as the side and I was not offered an alternative gf side when ordering but was asked about a shared fryer. When my sandwich came there was no side at all and I was told the fries were not gf. When I was asked if I wanted a different side I was told that any other side would be at an additional cost… I said that was not acceptable to offer a gf meal and then not have a gf side available for the price of the meal I already ordered. I spoke with the manager who reiterated that this is their “policy” and any other side would be at an addition cost. Ultimately I had the manager call the owner as I was not accepting that any restaurant would have this policy when offering a gf meal. The manager came back and said that this one time they would refund my $3 gf up charge but in the future this would not be offered. I’m very disappointed that any restaurant would not accommodate with a side that I could eat at no additional cost especially one that lists gf on the menu. I don’t post often about experiences but I wanted to let people know so that others are not caught in this situation paying $22 for a sandwich. I will not be going back to Monroe’s again.

I’ve gotten food here countless times and have never gotten sick. Their portions are huge (always have leftovers) and the food is delicious. Lots of GF options.

This used to be the only GF local restaurant I enjoyed and trusted. Tonight, when dining with a group of friends, the manager stopped me after I was done eating my gluten free artichoke french plate to tell me that the pasta included was not GF and was gluten containing due to a kitchen mix up. Never. Again.

Had GF pasta and a lot of other options that were either naturally GF or could be made GF. Overall good Italian GF food experience. Nothing spectacular but still yummy! Kid has celiac, gets very sick when glutened…did NOT get sick!

Very cool atmosphere. Naturally Gf items are marked and items they can make Gf are clearly labeled. Delicious Brussel Sprouts and Scallop dinner

This is a good place, food is awesome. Service can be spotty to down right bad for gf folks. I had to spell out alot and explain why I'm gluten free in my last visit. The reassuring thing is after our exchange I feel the server got it. Chicken parm is awesome
Amazing!!! I can't say enough good things!! We went on Valentine's Day (today) and they were very careful and I didn't get sick and I had fried calamari, gluten free rolls (that were amazing) and I got chicken parmesan with vodka sauce and the lobster mac! All of it was so delicious! I look forward to my next visit!

This is a tough one because I go here so often and typically have a great experience with their gf food. Out of the many successful meals there, I’ve had two bad experiences that were caught before I got sick thankfully. I ordered an item and was assured it was gf, and as I was about to take my first bite the server ran out and said it wasn’t. Another time I ordered something gf and waited a long time and when it came out I double checked to make sure it was safe... she went back to the kitchen to make sure and it was NOT made gf. Regardless, their food is delicious and they have an extensive amount of gf items on their menu, even things like artichoke/chicken French. They have amazing gf warm bread as well. I would still highly recommend Monroe’s but I would avoid the super busy times because that’s when I’ve almost been glutened.

Went there for lunch. They have a gluten-free dinner menu and their lunch menu indicates what items can be prepared GF. The service was horrible. The server was not knowledgeable about the GF menu or preparations and had to go back to the kitchen for answers. The sautéed calamari for an appetizer was tasty. Unfortunately, the service was so slow we did not have time to order our main after waiting 20 minutes for our server to come back and take our order.
They took being gluten free seriously. Even have gluten free rolls and bring out your own oil for dipping
Excellent menu. Many gluten free choices. knowledgeable staff. Gluten free Pasta and bread!
I was pretty pleased with my experience. I had the Chicken Parmigiana with vodka sauce. Service was a little slow but it was very busy while we were there. This is the sort of slightly pricey place you take people for a business lunch or dinner, but the portions were huge! I got two meals out of mine, and my wife got three meals out of hers.
The chicken parmigiana was grilled rather than breaded and fried, and was delicious. Pasta was your standard Tinkyada or Barilla gluten free pasta, but was cooked al dente and the sauce was delicious. I had a house salad no croutons and that was good as well. No intestinal complaints afterwards, so this is getting added to the rotation for us, though probably only occasionally - it is fairly expensive, after all!
My favorite restaurant in Rochester! My favorite is the GF chicken French. Also have dessert options too! Overall one of the best places to eat!
