Mortensen's Danish Bakery

We tried ALL the GF bakery items in Solvang. Mortensen’s was, for me, by far the worst in flavor. So much imitation almond extract in each cookie one could not taste the actual buttery, delicate almond flour. Literally spat them out. If you like almond extract, this is your place. Super cross contamination hazard as the GF items were all on the bottom shelf. Not a fan.

One star just so I could write a review. Gluten free prepared, baked and stored in same places as gluten free baked goods. Staff even said not recommended for celiacs. Did not order anything except coffee.

There were 3-4 choices of things that happen to be GF. As previously shared, they are in case with everything else. I let server know I had a gluten allergy, but that meant nothing to her. No separate protocol. I asked her about putting them on clean surface instead of tray she used for everything else. She could only do that if we ate there so she could use plate. She had no clean tongs and after all my questions, she still insisted on giving me the pastry she had on the "crumbie" tray. At that point I gave up and just took my plate. Celiacs...stay out...:(

Very good gluten free baked goods -sweets. Several selection.

Their gluten free pastries are incredible. They are made with almond paste. I didn't expect them to taste so amazing.

Update- we just returned a year later and the pastries are still so delicious. Friendly service

This place has pastries that are gluten free by accident. Everything is made in the same wheat infested kitchen. Nothing here is truly gluten free.

I ordered one of every gluten free item they had (6). OMG!!! Wonderful!! I was expecting hard crunchy wanna-be cookies and I bit down into the most perfect texture! Crunchy on the outside chewy and soft in the middle, you would never even guess they were gluten free! The Sarah Bernhardt was my favorite!

Oh my!!! Delish. Came to Solvang on a day trip with the family. I was seriously worried I would NEVER find anything GF. This made my day.

they only had a few gluten free things, but man were they good! Never bothered my stomach at all. made with almond flour.
