I was reluctant based on previous reviews but I asked questions and they were incredible. I told them I had celiac disease and they informed the manager. The manager even came over and showed me a brand new cutting board that they had cleaned. I am pretty symptomatic with my reactions and I was great. Will eat there again

They try to accommodate, but ultimately, I don’t think they really know how to prepare gf food safely. They warm up gf bread on a shared space; when I asked how they cleaned the area before putting my bread on it, they said they “sanitized” it with vinegar. Would not recommend if you have celiac.

If I could give negative stars I would. The reason we went to Mudgie’s is because they offer gluten free options. After waiting 45 minutes for a table I was told they were out of the gluten free bread. The only thing I could eat was salad. I asked for the owner, breezed by me twice, even though I asked to speak with him. He was totally dismissive. When I tried to talk to him as we left he got irate and basically kicked me out of the restaurant, and said he didn’t need my special gf business because Mudgie’s had thousands of customers. He was incredibly rude. This was not my first time at Mudgie’s but it will be last. So rude.

This is the worst place. Never go here. They don't know what gluten free is and say they do

Worst place. Not remorseful after serving real bread. Don't go here

Great gluten free food. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable
i love the food, but the last time i went there, i found out the new bread comes in frozen (not local at all, from MN) and because it is frozen, they toast it to warm out up... well they only have one grill and nothing is separate. luckily they were really great when i informed them that i couldn't eat it, so they made me a new sandwich (on frozen bread) and many boyfriend got to take the other one home for free. long story short: Be cautious, true to your needs and polite and they will try their best to accommodate

They use a different gluten-free bread that is made in Hamtramck. They are actually my go to place
Knowledgeable and understanding. Waitress didn't know, but cooks knew.
Yes
WARNING!!! They serve Udi's bagels for gf option but they don't know anything about gf food. I asked if the spinach spread is gf if I ordered it with the tortilla chips. The waitress consulted the "gf expert". He said no but he'd make it with a whole wheat tortilla for me instead. When I explained that's not gf he didn't seem to care. Makes me curious if their food really is gf as marked.

Enjoyed my 1st visit to Mudgie's! Very tasty sandwich on an Udi's bagel. I'll be back for more and I won't forget to order a bag of chips on my next visit!
GF sandwiches are served on Udi's bagels. Basically everything is gf naturally except the usual suspects. Delicious, if I'm ever in town again, I will stop by.
Mudgie's is my favorite in Detroit! They will make any of the signature sandwiches gluten free or you can create your own. Also they deliver which is an added bonus. Check the Facebook page for the soups of the day, they always state if it's vegetarian or GF! Way to go Mudgie's ;)
Fantastic! Had the Madill sandwich on GF bread (they use Udi's rolls). Nearly everything on the menu is GF. Guy at the front counter was very knowledgeable about GF and made sure the person making my sandwich took extra precautions. The only 2 sandwiches he said are not GF are That's Jared and Bat Outta Hell. Some soups are GF but some aren't so he said to always ask. They make all of their dressing from scratch (no "spice packets") so they know everything that goes into them. Also, the potato salad is made with beer so it's not GF.
Excellent food. You can order any sandwich on their menu with GF bread. They also have a GF soup option. Very yummy.
