We eat here all the time and it's great. We always get the GF burger. The fries are GF at this location as they have a separate fryalator.
I was thrilled to see there was a gf menu. As I was enjoying my burger with the best tasting GF roll ever my server (horrified) said they made a mistake and gave me the regular roll. :/ They felt really bad and comped the meal. I decided to give it another shot and returned. ordered something else from the gf menu. Within my meal was a little piece of breaded crunchy thing (from the grill maybe?) thankfully I'm not celiac - I only get bad tummy issues but still wouldn't chance it again. The servers are super friendly and it's a nice place
I went back today 7/13/14. Had another perfect hamburger and fries. What a wonderful treat. My waiter was very friendly and knew exactly what to do for me. I live being able to go out to eat with confidence. I love this particular Newport 99. Even their French fries are gf. I sit at the bar and the service is wonderful. I have a hamburger WITH a BUN and French fries whenever I go there. It is absolutely delicious and a treat to have french fries. I have been 3 or 4 times and had a great meal and no reaction afterward. Each time the waitress has been very aware of what it means to be gf. I ate ate the 99 in Dartmouth ,MA and was sick before I left but at the Newport 99 I never get sick!
Good variety of GF options on the GF menu. Staff was knowledgeable and the food tasted great.
Good food, they are quite accommodating and will change things up a bit to your tastes... I like that they put allergy alert on the order slips....
Maybe things have changed, but I just moved here, and every time I have been to this restaurant, they have been very accommodating. I've been here several times and gotten burgers with gluten-free buns, steak tips, salad, and so on. I do have celiac disease and have not had a problem with this restaurant in the past year that I have lived here.
I have been here twice now. The manager, Jesse, is very knowledgeable and careful with allergies. He always confess over to double check the allergies, etc. one time I wanted a baked potato; since they spray them with a refined soy oil he came to talk to me and we agreed I would have a microwaved "naked one". This last time he let me know that he could not get confirmation on the gf buns as to whether or not there was soy in then. So I decided to go without the bun. They gave me double broccoli and sauteed my veggies in water:) they have a gf menu. It may not be tons, but they do a great job trying to ensure to the best of their ability that what they are doing adheres to guidelines. I will say maybe a year our so ago they weren't as knowledgeable. But twice now it's been wonderful!
Every time I go here, the staff is awesome when you clearly state your needs. The menu is diverse enough and yummy.
Ordered the All Star Burger which came with 2 sides. The burger was over cooked but the meal was good overall. This place isn't great but it's a decent option for Gluten Free if you're in the area
We were on vacation and our hotel was near the Pittsfield, MA location. We ate there three times in five days! The staff were very concerned with our well being and good food! The first time, we ordered the food to go and it was so fabulous we went back two more times! We both ordered off the Gluten Free Menu - the All Star burger with the gluten free buns every time, with the loaded mashed potatoes and/or the loaded baked potato. We even shared a great hot fudge sundae once. It was wonderful! We wish we had a Ninety Nine restaurant near us!
Ordered sirloin tips with fried vegetables, broccoli, stuffed baked potato and it was absolutely amazing food! No contamination, service was amazing! I am from Canada and having the gluten free options at the restaurant was fantastic!!! Definitely 5 stars!!!!
I've eaten here a few times with my Celiac 7 yr old. I have celiac as well. I was very dismayed the last time when the manager told me the fryer was 90% gluten free. They do not have a completely separate fryolator and cant guarantee something else hasn't been dropped in there. He said people don't have a problem with their fries. I went on to explain Celiac and how you generally will not see a reaction while you are in the restaurant. I ended up feeling terrible for two days after eating there. Won't be going back.
The restaurant spots a gf menu, casual, and customer friendly. For starters the restaurant brings out popcorn, gf. I had the burger with chips and loaded mashed potatoes. The burger had a nice char taste. The bun was decent for gf. Overall, great option for a gc burger
Not all 99s have safe fries. This one does! :-) I hope the chain continues to grow their menu.
I knew they had a GF menu, but what I didn't know is that at the NASHUA, NH restaurant they have something even better - DARYN, the GM. After I placed my order with the waitress, he went out of his way to come to our table, introduced himself, and reviewed my order with me just to assure me that I would be well cared for in the kitchen. It isn't listed on the menu, but he let me know that their location has a dedicated fryer! Delicious GF fries!! I'd eaten at 99 once before at a different location and also had a lovely and safe meal, but Daryn's attentiveness took it up to the next level of service. I'm thanking my lucky stars Daryn happens to work at my LOCAL 99. I plan on eating there again and again.
They hand you a gluten free menu upon request, and are really keen on trying to not cross contaminate. I typically order the burger when I eat at a 99, simply because of the buns! it's not that often I can get a huge, yummy burger! for anyone who does order that too (say, the american all star or bacon), make sure you DEFINITELY keep it in the wrapping it comes in... you know how tricky the gluten free buns can be... and the burgers tend to come jam-packed.
I ordered food to go. The person who took my order asked how I wanted my burger then answered for me by saying medium rare. I told her I wanted it medium. She then asked what I wanted for a side. I said loaded mashed...she said mashed potatoes. I again said loaded mashed. At the end of the order, when she repeated everything back, I again corrected mashed potatoes and said loaded mashed. When I picked up my order, I was given what was on the order slip and it was mashed potatoes. I told the gentleman what I ordered and they made it right. After all this, I am now sick.
Mostly celiac friendly. You have to be on your toes. Best to ask for the manager before ordering. Don't get the french fries and don't be fooled if they appear on the GF menu. Stick with potato chips, baked potato. The house-brand steak sauce is not GF. Ask for the A-1. I've dined here safely many times, but I've also been glutened and had near misses. My two celiac kids have also been served safely, served gluten, and served near-misses. The food is good enough, and sometimes the price is REALLY RIGHT (especially if you have kids and the Red Sox won), but you really have to be on your toes. No complacency allowed!
Ive always loved 99. so when I had to go gluten free, I was happy to see that they had a gluten free menu. I go there all the time. they're gluten free menu is a separate menu with some great options. they even have gluten free buns for burgers (I always get the Bacon cheese Burger). all you do is ask for the menu and they accommodate you very well. I haven't gotten sick once from this place so they handle your health needs very well and try to keep away from cross contamination. love this place. everyone should go. its the best chain restaurant around for gluten free options and care. five stars!!
