They had some gluten free items. I had a gf chicken Caesar salad and mashed potatoes. food was ok, not great. An ok place to go when no other options around.
It was good in terms of how they handled the allergy. Server was very accommodating. Food was mediocre, though
This place is great. They have a Gluten Free menu not like Applebee's . My server was great also checked and told me that I could have swordfish cooked Gluten Free. Will be back again
Although the food was good, the service didn't really know what was and wasn't gluten free. I ordered the cheeseburger on the GF bun and the waitress ran away before I could tell her my side. I stopped her early enough to change the fries for mashed potatoes, but the plate still came with cole slaw, which, for the life of me I can't figure out why it isn't gluten free.
Only place around me where my 5 yr old can have a gluten free cheeseburger with a bun. She's in heaven. Also- if the Red Sox won the night before, kids eat free!
this place was serving me "g.f" salad. when I went to another state they let me know even the walnuts had wheat in them. no wonder I felt crummy. ALL of their salads had some sort of gluten in them (9/2015). it's so easy to substitute these little things. (1 star). I add another star because they have a decent menu for entrees that never made me sick
I heard that they had a small gf menu and it is in the back page. So we ordered gf burger and said several times we are gf to the waitress and her trainee and even ordered gf vegetables. The burger comes out and it is clearly not gf and the roll was clearly not gf. So we wait. we wait. we wait and we wait. They finally come to check on us and when I question the rolls on the burgers she says no they are not gf and takes the food back. If we were new to gf we would have eaten it and suffered. So while they offer the gf limited menu it's as simple as if the staff has no clue, you're in trouble. The manager apologized and took it off the bill, but it's always a risk we take...
I took both my kids who have Celiac to this 99 Restaurant. The waitress had no idea what was gluten or what they could or could not have. However, when I asked her to let the kitchen know that they are sensitive to cross contamination, the manager came to our table and was VERY helpful. She said that they cook the burgers and grilled chicken on the same grill as the steaks that have gluten in the marinade. But she offered to have the burgers baked in the oven to avoid cross contamination. The kids got kid menu cheeseburgers with broccoli instead of fries, and had no issues. We will definitely be back thanks to the wonderful manager.
Not many options on the menu, but wait staff was super helpful when i asked questions! I was able to substitute rice (theirs isn't gf) for mashed potatoes in my entree, which made it gf, even though it wasn't on the set aside menu. The kitchen staff and manager were also willing to talk to me and were hugely accommodating.
The nines is okay. They need to change it up and make improvements to their menu you can basically get steak a burger or a salad. They have the potential to make gf nachos and Fries but they don't have a dedicated fryer. It would be nice if they added more to the menu. Okay overall
Very friendly helpful staff, great GF buns! When I got mine I wasn't sure if it was GF because of how fluffy it was. They recently re-did the inside of the restaurant and it looks great. Great service, tasty GF food at a great price. Definitely Celiac friendly.
There is a very limited gluten-free menu including salad a few burgers and steak tips. The waitstaff was not very knowledgeable besides telling you to order from the bottom half of the last page. When asking if the nachos were corn or fluor tortillas I was rudely pointed back to that page without even an attempt to answer my question. I walked out and will not be returning any time soon.
I called in an order, told them I have Celiac, asked for no bun. They have GF buns, but I said no bun. Got home, and look and behold, there was a bun. I called them, they said it was probably gf. I went back there to show them... guess what? It wasn't. Grade: F.
Always helpful here! Very informed staff. Put ***Allergy Alert** on the order. I have been to other 99 Restaurants. This is the first one to inform me that the fries are not safe because it's a shared fryer. No fear- they have listed the safe options. I am a regular here and have never been sick. I usually order a burger. I think they use Udi's buns. :)
Went there last week, ordered gluten free steak tips, garlic mashed and broccoli. informed the server of my gluten free allergy. One of the chefs came out to the table to inform me the server had notified the kitchen about the allergy. Food was delicious.
I went back today 7/13/14. Had another perfect hamburger and fries. What a wonderful treat. My waiter was very friendly and knew exactly what to do for me. I live being able to go out to eat with confidence. I love this particular Newport 99. Even their French fries are gf. I sit at the bar and the service is wonderful. I have a hamburger WITH a BUN and French fries whenever I go there. It is absolutely delicious and a treat to have french fries. I have been 3 or 4 times and had a great meal and no reaction afterward. Each time the waitress has been very aware of what it means to be gf. I ate ate the 99 in Dartmouth ,MA and was sick before I left but at the Newport 99 I never get sick!
My daughter and I are both GFree. Seperate GFree menu. She usually gets a cheeseburger with Miss Vicki's chips. We sometimes get Caesar Salad to split first. On Adult menu, All Star burger, steak tips, balsamic chicken are all very good, tasty options. Sides include broccoli (no flavor), baked potato or garlic mashed potatoes - wish they had more vegetable options. Manager brings out the meal now. Hot fudge sundae is GFree and very good. Safe, simple food and we have never had any issues.
Other than once receiving my salad frozen I've had great luck at 99. Menu is great, staff is well trained and I've never gotten sick, of course other than my awful salad experience.
eaten there twice and each time I had a reaction :(
I have celiacs disease and was reluctant to eat here. The first time I visited it was petfevt. I had no problem at all but got very sick. will not ever come back. especially after the hostesses response when I asked for the gluten menu. she said they are only gluten sensitive. I said I had celiacs disease, either way. If you have celiac, DO NOT EAT HERE. NOT CELIAC friendly.
Not very many options to choose from.
I keep at this 99 restaurant all the time. Their gluten free menu isn't vast, but it has enough choices to satisfy most. These gluten-free all-star steak burger is my favorite. There gluten free roll is "acceptable" ( at least they have one) however the burger itself is phenomenal. With a side of a loaded baked potato and broccoli it makes for a really good meal. The servers generally understand celiac disease and are helpful in making selections. All of the steaks are also gluten free as are the turkey tips, though they're not on the gluten free menu.
i dont know if there is new managementor what but the wait staff and cooks seem to be no longer knowledgeable about gluten free menu. o ordered prime rib and asked the waitress to emphasis gluten allergy. ...when my plate arrived it had au jus sauce all over and the menu clearly states not to have any....so i asked and they didnt know...took 5 minutes for them to figure out i was right and i had to wait for another 10 minutes for another plate to be made. no apology from manager no bill adjustment either. ...will not go back.
