Chef is a celiac himself. The best food and GF bread as well.
4+ Always a thrill to find gluten free items/menu. Shared a tuna tartare with cucumber appetizer special minus gluten bread with my husband. Gluten free bread was available too and tasty! No other bread has come close gf wise and then there's wonderful olive oil for dipping. Luis, our server, was attentive and knowledgeable. He shared that the chef has celiac disease, has the appropriate separate kitchen areas, and would start serving gluten-free panini next Mon for lunch. When I ordered the lasagna, he pointed out it was not gluten-free. My alternate gf penne with a veal and pork bolognese sauce was delicious! My husband who does not have gluten sensitivity loved trying mine!
Very knowledgable staff--great food!
Accommodating of dairy and soy allergies as well. Delicious food!
Owner is celiac as mentioned by a previous post. Staff is great and food was delicious!
Really enjoyed my meal and most importantly felt safe. I met with the chef who is celiac before ordering and he was overly nice in explaining all of the options and made sure I would be taken care of. I will definitely return when I am back in NYC!
The chef is celiac so he makes a point to train his staff really well. They brought out gluten-free bread to go with the meal. Great classic atmosphere, fantastic cocktails, wonderful service--what more could you want?
Owner /Chef has Celiac, his name is Franco. Very nice and attentive staff. Right now they only have Pene Gluten free in the pasta, all entrees can be done gluten free.
So disappointed. We read the reviews and thought we found a great place. Sadly, we did not. To begin with, the staff was not very welcoming. We asked about GF appetizers and we were told flat out"No". I asked about GF bread and was told "No, there isn't any." They eventually found some, but it was well after we got the gluten bread. My daughter's GF pasta was undercooked. The menu says entrees can be made with GF pasta. With that thought, the entrees should be able to be made GF as well. I get that chicken parmigiana is more of a challenge, but if you sub grilled chicken (which was ok) add the mozzarella cheese! In addition, they charge $3.00 extra for GF pasta. I can buy a box of Barilla for $2.50!! As far as taste goes, it was ok. On the plus side, it wasn't that expensive.
Please go here and try the short ribs!! They are out of this world. You will not believe they are actually gluten free. The executive chef actually has celiac disease himself so he 100% knows what he's talking about!! I have been here soooo many times and never been sick!!
Don't bother making a reservation it doesn't matter
Amazing!!! Sat at the bar. Owner was very educated on GF. His brother has celiac. GF pasta dishes were great! GF bread... Toasted in own GF toaster. GF beer! Very cool place. Loved and recommend it!
Only GF entre was penne, but they could make various dishes with it. Butterscotch dessert was good. Good food, decent price, but they seemed to be down a server or two and people waited so long they left.
The owner has celiac and was very helpful. Even reconnended a place nearby to get gluten-free dessert.
Good pasta, gf bread at table.
Best GF pasta ever. Had the orechiette and subbed GF penne. The pesto was amazing.
Very good. Selection is limited but they do have gf pasta.
As soon as I walked in I was comfortable that I was safe. The owner came by and went over the menu with me. Then he suggested something not on the menu that he makes for himself. They brought gf bread they have gf dessert. A wonderful celiac experience.
I am here right now, eating the GF penne pasta pomodoro and it is delicious! I also wanted to get the sausage but the waiter checked and it is not gluten free - but so relieving to have a waiter be so friendly to check. I also have a milk allergy so I had to get the pasta without cheese but it is still great and the waiter was attentive to my concern. Highly suggested!
Good pasta, menu has GF options noted on it, and they waiter was knowledgable. Cozy Italian atmosphere.
Took family here including wife who suffers from celiac disease for late lunch before a Yankees game after reading positive reviews. We were not disappointed. Food was delicious! Plenty of GF pasta and salad options for my wife. Very Very reasonably priced. Also incredibly fast service. Could not have been happier.
Gluten free menu items and knowledgeable staff! There are fewer options at lunch (no gf pizza) but still lots to choose from. The salads are delicious, and there are even desserts! As others have said, the chef/owner has celiac so he's very safety-conscious. Loved this place. It has a really nice atmosphere.
Agree with other reviews. We had 3 young kids with us and they had great time too. We did it family style and got GF versions of fettuccine and orecchiette plus the salmon special. All were great and we just split it up between the 5 of us (each plate is sized for normal single serving). We had the butterscotch budino for dessert (cookies on top); Chef was celiac and came out to personally check our gluten sensitivity to advise that he was trying to get confirmation from cookie manufacturer that they are GF. Great service.
Amazing food, both for GFs and non-GFs. Bonus is the chef has celiacs, so is very aware of what we can and cannot have.
Delicious food. Lunch sized portions and very reasonable price. Many gf salad options and gf pasta. No gf pizza or entrees
Delicious Gluten Free selections in a quaint and fancy atmosphere! I had the Kale Salad, Salmon and Dessert. A hidden gem for the gluten free crowd to go with their non-gluten free friends. I would seek this restaurant out when visiting around The Rockefeller Center again.
