I ate there twice in the span of two days and also got a to go order. First time in three years I've been able to have bread to dip in oil and it was the best! The bun didn't hold up but it was the best tasting and even reheated well in the microwave. After eating a basket of bread I could only eat half my sandwiches. One of the best burgers I've ever had and the bacon so good! The main thing I liked about the chicken was the bread. They had to cut the chicken in half and double it up. Four stars is because I
I've been gluten free for about a year but my mom has been gluten free for over a decade so I've been aware and experiencing gluten free for a while, Not Your Average Joe's has, by far, THE best gluten free bread I have ever tasted. All of the food is super fresh and abounds with flavor. They are also VERY accommodating with any food allergy, wheat, dairy, etc. I wish we had one in my home town in Florida, but good thing they don't, my kitchen would fall into disuse.
Always an enjoyable meal! Many options.
I about cried happy tears when they brought me out gluten free bread to have before I ordered. The food was so delicious, did not have any reaction. Will definitely go back!
The staff was very knowledgeable about celiac and the dangers of cross contamination. First time in a long time dining out didn't make me sick. Thanks so much.
Watch your order there. They brought me a salad that looked too good to be true and it was. Luckily I asked first as the gluten version would have made me very sick.
Seriously the best place! Our server was amazing, knew about crosscontamination, celiac, allergies, everything. The bread is DELICIOUS, best gluten free bread I've had, by Gilligan's Foods. He even gave us a couple to take home. Amazing food, service, and atmosphere.
Celiac disease is taken very seriously here and the service staff is knowledgable about the condition. A large selection of delicious food to choose from off of the gluten free menu!
BEST CELIAC RESTRAINT EVER!!! They have gluten free bread which is the best you will EVER taste! Very aware and knowledgeable about the menu. No stupid binder a real menu. And very well priced!!!! Great kids and adult menu RECOMMEND FOR EVERYONE! I have been 20+ times and NEVER got sick!
This restaurant has quickly become my favorite in the DC Metro area. Knowledgeable, accommodating, friendly staff who go the extra mile to make things right...every time. And the GF bread?! YUM! Two thumbs WAY up for NYAJ's!!!
Extensive gf menu plus gf bread for the table.
My favorite thing is they will serve you gluten free bread to start your meal. It is yummy!!
Lots of options! Including pasta!
Amazing place! Great food and knowledgeable staff. When you can go somewhere and get g-free bread it's a major plus as you don't feel your missing out in anything.
Well it may be GF friendly BUT my husband and I ordered from the GF menu and get had an reaction. He missed 2 days of work. I complained, and Erik the regional manager personally delivered a $100 gift certificate which was nice of him but still bit weary of giving it another try to be honest.
Great food and experience! Cool ambiance, large gf menu, and they even have gf liquor! Jambalaya was a generous portion and gf bread was soft and tastey. Wish they would open a restaurant in Virginia Beach.
Awesome! Best GF restaurant I have been to. The whole staff is very knowledgeable about GF and good allergies. They have a great GF menu. They have delicious GF bread. If you ask they will changeout the fryer oil and you can have fries cooked in fresh gf oil. They take food allergies and gf very seriously.
We just ate there tonight... amazing enough to motivate me to sit down and review them immediately! We were given fresh and hot gluten free bread and dipping oil as soon as we identified ourselves as gluten free. The gluten free menu is amazing and contains more options that I have ever seen at a restaurant.. we all split the Salmon, the Rosemary Scallops, Chicken Quesadilla (yes- gluten free!), and a delicious grapefruit sorbet. It was amazing- my six year old even had a hamburger on a gluten free bun and was beyond thrilled. The prices were reasonable and the food was simply beyond compare!!!!!!!!!!
Waitress was helpful, but food came from a teenage food runner, not the manager or my waitress who I think said "no soy included" and ran away. I had to flag down my waitress to make sure the kitchen got the gluten allergy. She did, but still no manager. Food was gross. Chicken was like rubber. This is the first time I've ever sent my food back in a restaurant and it was my birthday. I've been to other locations and had better luck, but I won't be returning here.
My very first restaurant experience after my celiac diagnosis was at the Glen Mills, PA location. Our server immediately noticed my GF menu and was kind, knowledgable, and helpful. He made recommendations (which I followed) and the food was delicious. I had the grilled chicken caprese. The food runner delivered my food by saying "here is your GF chicken caprese," which I appreciated. From start to finish I felt as though my allergy was being considered and taken seriously.
NYAJ is one of the few chains I feel confident eating at when traveling. This location was no exception; friendly staff and seamless accommodation. Waiter brought gf bread to the table with a separate dipping sauce dish without being asked, and a different person brought out the gf meals separate from the regular ones. Would have been five stars if the sandwich was as good as I've had at other locations. The grilled chicken was a bit dry and there was a single pale tomato slice instead of the sundried tomatoes advertised. Still, I'm always happy to be eating somewhere safe!
They have a separate gluten free menu. Great selection :) I was a very happy diner. Definitely recommend, I'd love to try more from the menu!
We go to the Glen Mills, PA location. They really try here. We don't usually like chain restaurants but we have found they really try to provide fresh, imaginatively prepared food suitable for those with celiac. I have celiac and have eaten there numerous times and have never had any problems afterwards.
My family has been eating at Not Your Average Joes for years, and when I was recently diagnosed with a gluten intolerance, we found out about the gluten free menu! There are so many great options and even some you won't find on the regular menu! They also give you a really good gluten free roll. I'd highly recommend the salads, the gluten free chicken picatta, or the pesto gnocchi (not sure if this was a summer special or not.)
I'm a celiac and not your average joes claims to be gluten free however they gave me bread with gluten in it and the manager and wait staff both assured me in person it was indeed gluten free however an hour after eating it, I was sick for days. They are not celiac friendly.
Many gluten free options. Separate menu. Really good food.
We were visiting the area and found the this great restaurant. They have gluten free onion roll bread and an olive oil/Parmesan dip that is awesome. I would come back just for the bread/dip. I ordered the Burger and green beans. Burger was great the green beans were fair. I also ordered a GF Carrot Cake to take home. Friends that did not eat GF eat the Mustard Crusted Chicken and said it was great. Will definitely come back if ever in the area.
The food was great! I am gluten sensitive and got a plate of Mac and cheese with grilled chicken which was terrific and my brother who has celiac had a burger with a side of Mac and cheese. The only reason I'm giving a 4/5 is because the service was pretty slow considering it was later and their were very few others in the restaurant. 👍👍
Very accommodating.....gluten free menu and they can adapt other items. no dedicated fryer but they have GF rolls. Great service and food. Made me feel at ease. Glutenberg beer too!
Great choice for those needing gf Manager delivers the gf food separately and our waiter was so knowledgable and efficient. They start you with gf bread and dipping oil which was very good. Scallops are perfectly cooked. Finished evening with carrot cake that although waiter said was from outside vendor was Delish and we had no issues. Highly recommend!
Kudos for having a GF menu, but very confusing when I ordered off it and the waitress told me someone might come out to tell me they can't make the meal. Luckily that didn't happen, but stressful and embarrassing when eating with non-GF diners... Don't want to draw extra attention to my dietary limitations. The chicken caprese I had was good, but left me hungry. As a very small woman, that never happens to me.
The bread with the dipping oil was worth the visit. I had the scallops which were very good but if it wasn't for the bread I would have left hungry as it was a very small meal. The other diners with me weren't as happy with their meals (not gluten free meals). The salmon was dry (which I have had before and I agree) and I was told the beef dish was tough.
The food was great, plenty of gluten free options, including dessert. The waitstaff was knowledgeable and very considerate about Celiac. They brought out gluten free bread to start with--it was awesome. My young daughter is the one who has Celiac, so she was disappointed not to see gf fries, but they said they could make some for us in a pan. It was very busy, yet the manager came over and let us know he knew we were eating from the gf menu and they would take it seriously and pay special attention to our food preparation. The combination of their attention to gf needs and delicious food means we will definitely be back!
Delicious gf food! The onion-baked bulky rolls are amazing and might make you cry if you've been pining for good-quality bread since going gf. The online app is terribly problematic: don't use it. You can call in as early as 9am tho they dont open until 11:30am
I always feel safe when I eat at Joes (and haven't ever gotten sick). I've been to a lot of Joes locations in the area, and this is my least favorite, but it's still a good place to eat, especially with a big GF menu.
Our family has been eating here for years sometimes more than once a month. We have a Celiac child and she hasn't been Glutened EVER from here. Always respectful managers who bring out her food, to servers who do a really good job of understanding the cross contamination aspect of the disease. Their regular food is good as well. Just saying...
GF menu was offered as we were being seated without us even asking. We had awesome warm rolls with Parmesan dipping oil. Waiter checked to see if fries were GF but were not as he said there was no dedicated fryer. Burger was really good with garlic mashed potatoes. Lots of options here! Will be returning
