I recently went to O-Ku for dinner after months of being scared to try it. It was incredible! The staff is incredibly knowledgeable about what is and what is not gluten free on their menu and cross contact. They are very willing to make adjustments if you see something you like but it has some sort of crunch or non-gf sauce. Our waitress hit it out of the park and I felt very safe eating here. Just make sure to communicate with the staff at the beginning of your meal! Three days post O-Ku visit, I can say I’m having zero symptoms so I will be going back!

New chef eliminated separate fryer and they’ve also eliminated previously GF marinades, leaving only a few safe items. Avoid at all costs, they don’t care about celiac folks anymore.

A must visit!! Very aware of being gluten-free and/or celiac! Aware of cross contamination and have gf soy sauce!

Sushi restaurant downtown Raleigh in the warehouse district in a beautiful space.
Decent food, very overpriced, small portions, good service.

Excellent sushi experience! Full gluten free menu. They did pour regular soy sauce first, but replaced with tamari. Still freaked me out a little because I like to pour my own, but she reassured me, and all was fine. Gave us complimentary champagne for our anniversary! We drove 60 miles to eat there, was definitely worth it, and we will go again. We tried several of their signature rolls. Highly recommend going during happy hour to save 50% on rolls and $3 off cocktails (although I stuck with wine to stay safe).

Not a great experience. First we asked for a gluten free menu and they said they just rewrote their menu and haven't printed a gluten free version yet, but assured us the wait staff was knowledgeable in what was safe. Upon ordering the server seemed to know what was okay, so we placed our order. Once the food arrived, my wife, who isn't gluten free tasted a piece and noticed fried tempura in it. We brought it to the servers attention who got the manager on duty. Then he mentioned the squid sauce in our other roll may have gluten and he'd check, and it turned out it did. They were able to create rolls that were safe after researching this and the food tasted good, but be extra careful here as they may not be as knowledgeable as led to believe.
Delicious and safe. I ordered so much and walked out very full!
Truly great GF dinner experience. They have an extensive GF menu and all their fried foods including tempura are gluten free as-is on the menu. The staff is extremely knowledgeable about GF options and made great suggestions. I can’t wait to go back to try other items on the menu.
