There should be more restaurants like this that serve simple well fried seafood battered in cornmeal. Anything in the fryer is meal making all fried items safe. We have enjoyed lunch here several times over the past 4 years. Today it was fried pickles and a fried trigger basket. It’s hard to not overeat. This is not a fancy place but visit once and you will be back.

So sorry to not have gotten to eat here. We arrived at 1.40 pm. They close at 2 pm. We did not know that. They would not let us in anymore. Not even take out. We are an a roadtrip so could not wait until 5 pm.
We went out of our way to stop here to eat (we’re from Ohio and were visiting various areas in the South) because of reading about their gluten free options for my daughter with Celiac. It was delicious! All the fried seafood is fried in cornmeal and their fries are fried in their own oil. My husband spoke with the owner who said when he started the restaurant, he just used his family’s recipe and had no idea how grateful people would be to have gluten free options. Our waitress stated that they have regulars from over an hour away because it’s the only place they know they won’t get sick. My daughter was thrilled! She got the fried pickles and the fried shrimp basket with fries. She highly recommends all of it! (The non-Celiacs got fried trigger, fried mahi tacos, and a cheeseburger and were all super happy with our food too!)

Amazing little restaurant! The staff was very knowledgeable about food allergies & cross contamination worries. Our waitress knew the exact ingredients in every dish & the food was so good. It was such a fun & relaxing dinner out.

Found a fantastic little restaurant with awesome gf choices and phenomenal service! They didn’t have a menu that said gluten free on it, but when we asked the waitress about gf choices she knew all about it, all the fried food was gf, and she was able to tell me ingredients in the foods so I could find a number of options that fell within my dietary limitations. We will definitely be going back! Off The Hook!

Delicious safe gluten free fried seafood!!! And hush puppies too!! Everything was delicious and everyone was so nice. The Buffalo shrimp is so good and the seafood platter was amazing. It’s so nice when my husband and I can share plates without worrying I will get sick. I ate my weight in food and was so happy. Thank you Off the Hook!!

Ate here today and it was pretty good! I had fried shrimp and fries. They use cornmeal to batter everything so there’s not a risk of cc with the fryer.

I’m giving this a 4 star rating based off that I am a very sensitive celiac & did not get sick or feel sick in the slightest. Safe fried food is hard to find. However, the food itself was only so so and the shrimp I ordered were not cleaned.

Great fried and grilled seafood! Staff is great. Glad to have some place local that I feel safe eating at!
Update: Fried green tomatoes are “Off The Hook”!!! Everything I have eaten here so far has been wonderful and I have not had the first CC issue! Just alert wait staff and everything is fine!
Went again last week with family that is NCGI and we had wonderful food both fried and grilled (Amberjack was fantastic) and neither of us had any problem with CC. The place was packed!

I cannot say enough good about this restaurant. My husband and I were passing through from Ohio down through the southern gulf states and saw this restaurant listed as Celiac friendly. We made the drive over only to find it closed about 15 minutes prior to our arrival, until dinner time. I was so upset having seen the expansive gluten free menu they offered. We spent the day putzing around the town for 3 hours waiting for dinner time. It was worth every single minute we waited. The menu is 95% gluten free and every item listed is delicious! 12 years I’ve waited for a good crab cake or deep fried anything. You have to give this place a try!
