I'm celiac and very sensitive to any cross contamination. I've been eating at this restaurant for years without issue. I travel through Maine every year and I know that I can stop by there whenever I'm hungry and I need an easy option.
During our last visit, I have to add that it was even better than it has ever been before. The waiter confirmed (once again) that they used a separate water bath for GF pasta. Their chicken parmigiana is quite good for an american "italian restaurant". He knew what was celiac disease and what I needed to avoid. If you're celiac, you just have to mention it.
As for the salad, the waiter kept apart the croutons and the bread sticks from it to prevent cross contamination. The salad was gluten free. We really enjoyed it.
The only downside about this restaurant is that it's getting old. It could use some renovations and care in the men's room.
