The food here is okay. I was super excited about a gluten free waffle but I was not prepared for it to appear dark. Other waffles also came out incredibly dark, so it’s probably the normal presentation for a paleo waffle using almond and coconut flour. They graciously allowed me to order something else, so I got the sweet potato hash. The Brussels sprouts tasted soggy, like they were boiled then tossed in the pan. I had a different expectation for this place in which I thought my taste buds would be wowed, especially for the price.
The service was great when we first arrived but then it got weird. My dish came out first, which is fine but my sister’s food was another 10 minutes. She told me to eat, which is when I found out no matter how hard I tried to like that waffle, I couldn’t. I tried to tell the person who brought my sister’s food (finally) but no one came to check on us, not after the first dish and not after the second one many minutes later. We got someone’s attention and he assisted with replacing the waffle with the hash.
The food is decent and the service is mediocre. I recommend trying this place to see for yourself because they do have a nice selection and many items are gluten free.

Celiac and in Dallas? Do yourself a favor and go here! Pretty much everything on the menu is gluten free or will be made so upon request. I had several meals. All wonderfully prepared and tasty. I even got to have rice floured fried chicken with dairy free gravy. Excellent. The manager was very friendly and helpful with suggestions. The place is in a nice neighborhood. It’s upscale. Lots of young professionals during the day there.

Great atmosphere, lots of GF options but in all honesty, the GF chicken and waffles was not very good - the waffles looked burned and were dense. Fries were delicious! I think we just ordered wrong because the restaurant was packed and other people’s food looked good.

What a wonderful place! Staff is very nice and attentive. Food is outstanding! Had calamari, beet salad and shrimp and grits. My husband had the chicken fried steak. Highly recommend! Staff totally aware of all food offerings and allergies.

The staff was knowledgeable and friendly. Almost everything is gluten free- they do not fry anything containing gluten. The chicken fried chicken was great. Great experience.

Ambience and Service:
Upon entering Origin Kitchen & Bar, the welcoming atmosphere and the restaurant’s dedication to being celiac-friendly were immediately evident. The staff was generally friendly and attentive, creating a comfortable environment for a family brunch.
Food Quality:
The menu offered an appealing selection of brunch items, including gluten-free options. I opted for the gluten-free French toast, which, when initially served, looked delectable but raised suspicions due to the thickness of the bread. This prompted a double-check with the staff.
Addressing Dietary Needs:
As someone with celiac disease, it’s crucial that restaurants understand and cater to gluten-free requirements. Initially, there was a concerning lapse when I was mistakenly served regular French toast instead of the gluten-free version. Fortunately, the error was quickly rectified upon speaking with the manager, and I was served the correct dish without further issues.
Management Response:
The manager’s response to the mix-up was commendable. He was apologetic, understanding, and took immediate action to rectify the mistake. His decision to comp the meal was a generous gesture that was appreciated.
Overall Experience:
My experience at Origin Kitchen & Bar was a mix of highs and lows. The atmosphere and food quality were excellent, but the initial oversight regarding my gluten-free needs was a significant concern. The prompt and empathetic response from the management, however, did help in alleviating the situation.
Recommendation for Fellow Diners:
For others with celiac disease or gluten sensitivities, I recommend being extra vigilant and confirming with the wait staff about the gluten-free status of your meal. This experience underscores the importance of double-checking, even in establishments that advertise as celiac-friendly.

My celiac child can very rarely go anywhere and get the high quality, delicious fare we found here. The calamari was crisp, fresh and delicious. She had a side of Mac n cheese and the orange chicken. I am GF (non celiac), dairy free and no seed oils - their menu accommodated it all with zero compromise on flavor. Staff was knowledgable and engaging. Would eat here every day if possible. Huge kudos on a great, delicious and most importantly SAFE experience.

Second time I’ve eaten here. Food is so good and it’s a very safe place for celiacs to eat at! Fryer is dedicated gluten free, but they have an item on their menu that is breaded in almond flour and fried in the fryers so this time I unfortunately couldn’t have anything that was fried as I am allergic to nuts. Had their GF Mac and cheese and it was the best Mac and cheese I’ve ever had. Even my gluten eating husband agreed. Everyone I went to dinner with last night loved their food. The cookie dessert is to die for. Highly recommend if you’re in the area!

Ordered GF chicken and waffles and was very excited. The food was bland. GF waffle was disappointing as it was paleo and not just GF so the texture was extra odd.

Everything is gluten free except for the burger buns (which they can substitute gf). Only gf food goes into the fryers, so everything is safe! I haven’t had fresh mozzarella sticks in years!

So sad there isn’t one in Fort Worth. Everything about their service and menu is 10/10 for celiac and I am dairy free as well. They don’t use seed oils and everything is clearly marked as far as ingredients go in dressings and entrees. My husband got the gluten free chicken fried steak and I got the sweet potato fries and defined dish salad with popcorn *fried* chicken. Unbelievable how wonderful and satisfying every item was! Will be returning.

First but not last time visiting. Went in for breakfast but ordered GF Pecan Pie. Pie is breakfast right? Served warm on top of a caramel drizzle with a small cup of vanilla ice cream and sliced berries. So delicious and rich I almost finished it. There are so many GF dishes to choose from. I can't wait to return. I also bought a slice of GF Italian Cream Cake to take to a wedding. Prices are on the higher end of the scale but right for the area.

Just okay, won’t go out of my way for this. Chicken and waffles was lacking. Waffle is paleo so it crumbles. Chicken was simply prepared, nothing special. Syrup not warmed. Bacon limp and tasted like ham. In other news, restaurant smells like the restroom and parking lot sucks.

My girlfriend friend is gluten intolerant and picky so it's difficult to find a GF place that we both like. Great service. Shrimp and grits were delicious. My girlfriend said it was the best chicken fried steak she had in years. She actually finished the whole thing and usually never does. We will be back.

I'm going to start by saying I LOVE THIS PLACE! It brings me to tears to report what I saw this past weekend. It's almost always busy and Sunday was no exception so we sat at the bar on the food prep side. While watching them cook all orders from the same cooking area I asked the chef if they prepared GF items in the back. He said they used the left side of the flat top for GF items but I repeatedly saw them use the same cooking tools for food preparation. GF corn tortillas were heated on the same side as regular pancakes. There were even some non-GF items on the left side of the flat top. Same with the cook balancing the orders on the burners. Cleaning of the GF plates before serving was done with the same towels as gluten orders. I'm heartbroken.

We had a great experience! Especially love the focus on quality ingredients, not just having gf available.
We'd recommend adding the Mac and cheese with the chicken fried chicken instead of the veggies (the diet can start tomorrow).

We totally enjoyed our visit to Origin Kitchen! The food is delicious and you don’t need to worry about being glutened. They are very careful to prepare your food if you tell them you need to be GF. I had a succulent burger, my hubs had a delicious seafood entree. We both thoroughly enjoyed the Italian rum cake for dessert. This cake is a must-try if you go there. It’s one of the best GF cakes I’ve ever eaten. They use healthy ingredients and locally sourced when possible. You can tell they have a high commitment to serving excellent food there. Definitely will go back.

i hate to say i was glutened here because i’m not 100% (i just have a really sensitive stomach so i’m not for sure what made me sick) but something from my meal here took me out for a good 12 hours. i was up ALL night sick. I also sat at the bar and they seemed to touch gluten and non gluten things with the same gloves so that was iffy for a celiac like me but i just assumed they didn’t do that with my food because i made my allergy known and took the risk. the food wasn’t even very good so definitely wasn’t worth it. their gluten free macaroni was super good, but i got the chicken fried chicken and it was over cooked and super rubbery. the gravy is made of coconut milk so it did not taste like gravy. some people may love that but it just was not for me. my family seemed to like their meals so i’m not saying don’t go here, just wanted to share my experience just in case!

Nice atmosphere and great service. Chicken and waffle just okay, and I hate to say that. Waffle tasted good but had been steamed, not crispy. Chicken breast fried, but needed salt and pepper. I so wanted it to be fabulous! Happy to have gf though.

We stopped in for late breakfast yesterday and loved the atmosphere. I ordered an almond milk latte with their house-made almond milk and the GF chicken & waffles. The latte was good, but the chicken and waffles were a bit underwhelming. (Sadly the waffle was really crumbly and blackened on the bottom and the chicken was way overcooked and not salted at all.) I think I just ordered the wrong thing though--the folks sitting next to us ordered a delicious-looking appetizer and sweet potato hash bowls and they were raving about them. I noticed a lot of people were ordering the breakfast tacos also, so we'll go back and try some of the other options, especially since I didn't have any reactions to my meal, so they definitely have the safety portion down.

Amazing! Gluten free beer on draught, and so many menu items I rarely am able to have. Some items on menu say “gluten free” in the name but the server said everything is gluten free (other than some regular beers available). I got chicken fried steak and then shared pecan pie and chocolate mousse with my friends. Also one of our party is vegan and seemed to have no trouble finding options. If I ever come to Dallas again I’m going here!

My husband and I ate here for our anniversary and we were blown away by the whole experience. I found this place on Instagram and saw there were tons of GF options. I thought I would only be able to eat off of their “clean” menu, but we were informed that I could eat anything on the menu (anything with bread, just mention you need GF). There are no items that are fried with gluten, so anything fried is safe to eat. We ate the brussel sprout artichoke dip with half corn chips and half malanga chips as an appetizer. My husband had the short rib and I had the green goddess salad. Everything we ate was over the top amazing and the service was perfect. I definitely recommend this place for a romantic date night or any other special occasion.

I ordered the GF Chicken and Waffles - the chicken was dry, and the waffles were overcooked.
I sat at the bar, and I witnessed quite a bit of cross contamination, i.e. a lime was put into a margarita, but the bartender took a sip of the drink with a before sending out and realized he forgot the lime juice. He took the lime out and put in back with other sliced citrus. While he was remixing the drink, another person picked up the lime and put it in a sparkling water for another customer.
