This is our go-to for Chinese takeout in Iowa City. Many items on the menu can be made gluten-free (those marked GF--however you need to ask that they be made gluten-free as not all automatically are). The Kung Pao Chicken with fried rice is really good and is naturally gluten-free. They do not use soy sauce in their fried rice either. I recommend calling for takeout/delivery to be sure you get items made the way you need.

I highly recommended this restaurant. They are very helpful and friendly in accommodating dietary needs. They thoroughly explain the menu options and will prepare everything separately in the kitchen. I have celiac and I’m very sensitive and very symptomatic and have never had an issue here and unlike many places, there are many gluten free options. So happy to have found this place.

This place was gross, their rice was orange and the chicken wasn’t fully cooked. All of the gluten free items are prob not even gluten free.

This place is NOT safe for Celiacs. I tried this place two years ago and got really excited when I saw they had gluten free battered items. I ordered the popcorn shrimp and had extreme diarrhea in their bathroom for an hour. Last week my friend convinced me to give them a second chance. I got the fried rice and made it VERY clear it needed to be gluten free. I didn’t vomit or diarrhea but I got super nauseous and had brain fog for the rest of the day. I’m honestly shocked at how many positive reviews this place has.

Oryza has a large menu marked with gf, vegetarian, and vegan dishes plus those that can be modified. There are plenty of soup, appetizer, and entree choices. Plus, they have a gf fryer! I let my server know how sensitive I was to gluten and she was very knowledgeable and made sure everything was gf. I really enjoyed my meal.
Edit: be sure to tell the server you want gluten free even if the dish is marked gluten free on the menu. Sometimes GF means it can be made that way.
