October 13, 2023. Still a great place to safely eat GF food. I had a cheese steak and loaded fries. We also grabbed a GF pizza and Italian wedgie to go. Ate then the over the course of the next day at our Pitt tailgate. Read my earlier reviews (below) for more details of their allergy accommodations.
October 29, 2021. Second trip to this pizza shop. I ate the same foods as my first review, see below. I highly recommend this place. Importantly, I DID NOT GET SICK AFTER EATING HERE!!!!
July 3, 2021. The first thing they ask you at the counter is if you have any food allergies. I told them that I had Celiac. They have dedicated kitchen space and a gluten-free fryer for both wings and fries. They do not use "free flour" in the kitchen when tossing regular pizza. They use cornmeal for all pizzas so you know that airborne gluten contamination won't occur. Food was delicious. My wife and I split loaded buffalo fries, a spinach and ricotta pizza with olives and banana peppers, and an Italian wedgie. I will post images of the menu and the food to go with my review.
Importantly, I DID NOT GET SICK AFTER EATING HERE. Can't wait to come back. Highly recommend.

Definitely one of the safest places you can eat as a celiac in Pittsburgh. Super knowledgeable staff. Huge menu selection. Dedicated fryers and separate spaces. I have never gotten sick from eating here. It’s a great place to take gluten-eating friends too because their gluten menu is pretty robust as well :)

Very knowledgeable- dedicated areas with ovens, pots, pans, etc. Numerous choices - my sister (who also has Celiac) and I sampled pizza, wedges and appetizers and were very happy with all of them. One of my new favorites.

Very safe but very mediocre pizza. Cheese and sauce are not usually flavorful and fries are often soggy. Crust has a good texture though, and I've never gotten sick here!

Dedicated gluten free section of the kitchen and fryer. Great gluten-free menu options. We had to double check with the staff that the Italian hoagie roll was actually gluten free because it looked so much like regular hoagie bread. They told us that it definitely was and that their supplier makes them like that. It was a relief to get a decent size hoagie on crispy bread instead of the typically small torpedo size roll. My wife had no problems afterwards and it will be now be one of our regular hot spots whenever we are in Squirrel Hill.

Don’t miss out on this one! I ordered an allergen friendly Italian hoagie for take out and when I got home I had to call the restaurant and make sure what I got was gluten free. It looked and tasted like regular bread. They reassured me that it was gluten free, and it was. Seriously the best sandwich I’ve had in years!

They are knowledgeable about celiac and have a dedicated section of their kitchen + a dedicated fryer. I asked about the grilled chicken as well, and the cashier told me that it would be prepared safely too. (Cashier had a great sense of humor too, real friendly place)

I have not felt comfortable ordering pizza at a restaurant since my celiac diagnosis over 1 year ago. While visiting Pittsburgh again my husband and I decided to try Pastolis based on reviews from this app and a personal recommendation from a friend with celiac and it did not disappoint! We ordered a gluten free buffalo chicken pizza and the server explained the precautions that are in place (dedicated tray, pizza cutter, etc). What's more they carry local Auroch's beer (completely gluten free). It was nice to enjoy pizza and beer again! We'll definitely be coming back the next time we are in town!

This was an amazing meal, I got loaded fries and a buffalo wedgie. I was fine I had no reaction. The first thing the hostess asked was if anyone had any allergies. They have an amazing allergy menu, clearly laid out and easy to order from.

Went here on a recommendation from a friend. Really impressed by the menu! It was hard to choose, there were so many choices. I opted for the GF spinach and ricotta pizza. It was very tasty. The crust is very thin and crisp. The server showed me the location where the allergen free items were located and explained the pizzas were made in a separate oven.

We eat at Pastoli's a few times a month and I have never gotten sick. The one time we had a problem with the order (pizza was made with a regular crust instead of a gluten free crust) they remade it quickly and the owner came out and apologized in person. They have the best fries and the sandwiches are really good. I don't think the pizza is amazing, but I appreciate that they have such a great GF selection and seem to take making their GF products very seriously.
Update: I originally posted this review three years ago and we have gotten Pastoli's almost every week since then and I have never gotten sick. I really appreciate that I have a safe place to pick up food on those busy days when I don't want to cook!

Tons of gluten free options. We went there twice and did not get sick. We had gf wings, potato skins, pizza, and cheese steaks. They even had gluten free beer from local brewery. Employees were knowledgeable about celiac and cross contamination. Safe and delicious, we will definitely be back!

I can’t WAIT to get more Pastolis! I had a buffalo chicken pizza with dry rubbed fries (can’t remember the exact name of them) and it was the best pizza & fries I’ve had in the four years I’ve been celiac. I felt safe eating it and it was incredible. The leftovers heated up fantastically in my air fryer too!

This place is the place to go if you are worried about cross contamination! They have a dedicated fryer for wings And a separate area for their gluten free food preparation. We had the Gf 12” pizza which has a great soft crust that’s just the right amount of chewy and wings with the Buffalo sauce. Everyone enjoyed it and they also have some gluten free beer and cider options! They also have other gluten free menu items like salads and hoagies.

There are so many options on the gluten free menu that I usually don’t see! Wings, pizza, and hoagies are all options although we’ve only had the pizza because my wheat allergic son picks it every time since it is so good! Daiya cheese is a pizza option if you are avoiding it. Staff is really nice and very knowledgeable about their menu.

This place is a fantastic opportunity to have a safe, gluten free meal that goes way beyond the usual “burger without a bun” offering! You can get WINGS! And they are really good! My nonGF son thinks these are the best wings anywhere.... you can get HOAGIES! They are terrific! The roll tastes nonGF!
You can get great pizza!...fries from a dedicated fryer ( and loaded fries!)....you can enjoy all of this with GF BEER! On tap or in bottles....every time I eat at Pastolis I leave feeling normal instead of sorry for myself because I had to make a lot of compromises....and I have never gotten sick....they get the GF routine and follow it carefully. Go to Pastolis, you will not be disappointed!

As soon as I walked in the door, the owner asked “Who’s gluten free?” I haven’t had a hoagie in so long, and it was SO good. I had an Italian hoagie (grinder) and gf fries (dedicated fryer!) Will definitely be back!!

This place is NOT GF since they use the same oven for regular and GF options.
Also, GF options are very expensive. Skimpy on toppings.
