On my trip to Portland I went here twice! All the goodies I got were delicious and all vegan and gluten free. I enjoyed their chai latte as well. It’s a cute place. Would definitely return !

Everything here is vegan & gf so my brother and I can both order. The staff is knowledgeable and lovely. I love ordering from here. We ordered a pie for my wife's birthday and she loved it.

Petunia’s is *good*, but out of all the delicious gluten-free pastry options in Portland, they’re a little lackluster. The bars / brownies are very good, but not a huge fan of their cakes.

*Edit in December 2023* I’m removing a star because I’ve tried more of their menu options, and they are just… not very good. Crumbly, dry. Very much what you expect in gluten-free baking. :/

I've had the sugar cookie, chocolate chip cookie, snickerdoodle cookie, the cinnamon roll, the Cheddar herb scone, and the bagel egg and cheese sandwich. SO GOOD and such a relief knowing the whole establishment is gluten free and vegan!

We visited for breakfast recently but arrived too late in the morning to get actual food and had to "settle" for donuts lol. There was no settling--these were real, fried donuts, not the baked ones that most GF places do. We split a chocolate with sprinkles and a cinnamon sugar donut, as well as a pecan-topped sticky cinnamon roll bun thing that stole the show. The lattes were great too.

My daughter and I couldn't make up our minds between the peanut butter chocolate or caramel latte cupcakes, so we each got one and then shared them. Both were sublime and made our eyeballs roll upward. I visit Portland frequently and have found my new indulgence!

Atmosphere was amazing, very happy & kind, bordering on bubbly.

Pastries and deserts were great, but they are vegan. If you're vegan I'd guess this is 5* but as a non vegan it limits them a bit in variety and things like icing.

If you're not vegan, DO NOT LET THIS SCARE YOU AWAY. I'd absolutely recommend everything I tried --including the cookie dough ice cream with a cone!

INCREDIBLE FOOD AND SERVICE! We came right as it opened and got the biscuits with sausage and egg, and got the lemon blueberry poppyseed muffin and a slice of coffee cake. All the food was amazing and moist, couldn’t tell that it was gluten free but was even more surprised it was vegan. 10/10 would recommend

Such a cute place. Staff were lovely! I bought a cheddar and herb scone (sooo good!) and a salted caramel brownie (delicious). Wish I was in Portland for longer to try more things here, highly recommend.

Got there at opening and had the biscuits and gravy. Amazing. Had some takeaway snacks including the herb focaccia, the cookie sandwich filled with frosting and sprinkles, and a caramel bar that my gluten loving partner absolutely loved. Cute inside, busy. All dairy free too.

Their biscuits and gravy are 5/5…if available.

Unfortunately, they do not have all of their menu items available from the “eat” menu every day. You have to go in/call and see what they might have available.

Pass on the donuts. They’re chewy and flavorless (I tried the chocolate with pick frosting and chocolate mocha). The icing just kinda melts in a way similar to coconut oil.

Day old strawberry rhubarb pie was just not good at all. Crust fell apart with the moisture of day 2 and was a little salty. The texture of the filling was mushy. The flavor was just not good at all for the crust and the filling.

Bagel was over toasted on the outside and barely toasted where sliced.

The biscuits and gravy were so good, but they were only available 1 of 3 days I tried. Everything else was just not good. Flavors and textures were really off.

Try the donuts. We had a chocolate donut and it was great! We also bought a slice of the dulce de Leche coconut cake and it was good too. It was a bit on the sweet side for me, but tasted good and was textured well. I also tried the chocolate chip blondie (brownie), but wasn't impressed. It was definitely under baked and was overly sweet. But, the donuts are great!

Loved finding a GF bakery in downtown area. We got some donuts, cinnamon rolls, and millionaire bars. All were very tasty. But the donuts were very dense and texture was more like a heavy bread. The cinnamon rolls texture was also dense and more like a heavy Danish. We enjoyed them and being able to have a sweet treat while staying downtown. But I'm sure locals with access to a car can probably find better options outside of downtown area.

We ate breakfast here twice during our stay in downtown Portland and were not disappointed -- in fact, their pecan sticky buns became my breakfast for the week following our visit. Great variety of baked goods, including fried donuts on the weekends. I'm happy Petunia's is several hours away from home, since otherwise I would need to mortgage the house to pay for regular visits.

Be aware that Petunia's is entirely vegan, so even though the menu board indicates that they offer some menu items with eggs and cheese, it's vegan egg and vegan cheese.

Fabulous! Everything is vegan and GF and you cannot tell! We had an Everything Bagel with egg and cheese. We also had the cinnamon roll, and the pecan sticky bun - both were absolutely delicious and moist. The pumpkin spice latte with coconut milk was AMAZING! Highly recommmend!

I have gotten some items from here a couple times now. It is great to have a place to get a yummy treat. Unfortunately one of the items I tried this time had xanthan gum in it for sure. I was bent over in pain within ten minutes of finishing half a scone.

I know much of gluten free baking includes xanthan gum as a good substitute that helps with texture and keeping the baked goods together but I wish it wasn't the go to staple. it would be great if bakeries utilized natural substitutes like psyllium husks or tapioca flour. I have had great results using a combination of these ingredients.

The goodies at Petunia's are so good though, sometimes the reaction might be worth it.

Update: 2022 So many tasty items! The turtle cheesecake is my favorite. The pies are delicious too.

Wow! I stopped by for a quick bite and had their chili & cornbread. I’m a die hard meat eater and yet I loved this vegetarian chili. Cornbread was good, though it is very delicate so I.had trouble eating this in the car as a passenger without it disintegrating into crumbs. The pies and cakes looked amazing, I will have to try that next time.

Had high hopes for this place since it had so many gf items listed on their website and a few people recommended it. Went at 1:30 on a Friday afternoon and they didn't have a few listed items that I was excited to try. Ended up getting one of their baby cakes which is a cupcake. I would've tried some ice cream, but most of them contain soy. The cookies didn't look appetizing, like flat hard discs. Cupcake tasted ok, it was a cupcake, nothing too special. Don't think we'll be visiting it again. Service was only alright. Server at the counter wasn't really friendly, seemed more annoyed that we were there and even more annoyed we only got 2 cupcakes, since they were out of other stuff.
