The food is very limited and only is gluten friendly. I’m not sensitive like celiacs so I had no reaction and the gluten friendly and vegan blueberry cake was very good.

Very few GF items on the menu and the ones that are marked are suspect which prompted me to ask and then learn that they are not, in fact, gluten free. Order at your own risk.

Celiac - Please note that their GF notations on the menu only mean Gluten Friendly.
They do not have a dedicated fryer for the GF Brussel sprouts on their appetizer list.
Very limited selection of GF items on their menu but their menu is small to begin with.
With that being said, our waitress was phenomenal and understood safety precautions and took care to warn the kitchen. I ordered the Salmon with beets and fingerling potatoes and it was cook to perfection.
It’s now been 3 hours since eating there and so far I have not shown a reaction. I do believe that if the kitchen was as good as our waitress, they took care in making sure my meal was safe.
Will I return, yes as the food was very good. Will it be my first choice in Ames, probably not solely due to the Gluten “friendly”. But again their wait staff was wonderful.

Best food we’ve had in our four years at Ames. Wonderful wait staff, knowledgeable and willing to modify dishes if possible to make GF

Very, very limited selection. Even if you tell the staff that you are Celiac and cannot have any gluten or foods that come in contact with gluten, they will still try to recommend oatmeal or fries that are cooked in the same frier as everything else. They do have a few items that are seemingly safe, but I still can't trust it with the lack of awareness I've sensed.

Prior to celiac diagnosis this was my favorite restaurant. But recently I decided to see if it might be safe to eat here. They had a Korean BBQ brisket type meal and it said GF and I was beyond excited. I called to order and decided to ask what soy sauce they use that is gluten free. It turns out it actually wasn’t gluten free and they marked their menus wrong. Their website also warns of cross contamination since they are a bakery. I’ll miss this place but it’s not worth it.

Upscale and out of the way. Great patio. Several GF options clearly marked on the menu. I had the deviled eggs and the beets and burrata salad.
Nice choices of entrees. No gluten free buns/fries or pasta though. Server knowledgeable.
Had the flatiron steak with potatoes- very tasty. I did have my dessert delivered with gluten cookies on the side. So I needed to double check and ask about each plate put before me. However, it offered a wonderful palette of flavors, and I did not get sick.
