I loved Purity Ice Cream! They take ice cream from the back for people with allergens. I had no issues eating there when I went. My sister-in-law and her friend, who both have celiac frequent this place a lot at never have had an issue. I had regular green tea ice cream and coffee ice cream and both tasted amazing. My sister-in-law, who also has a severe dairy allergy, claims that their vegan ice cream is the best she has ever had. They have plant-based silverware and when I asked about it, they said it was made from corn and potato starch. We used them without a problem. However, they also have plastic spoons to use upon request. Very helpful staff.

We have been to Purity before with great success, so we were excited to go again while in town for a college visit for our celiac daughter. Today, they gave my daughter a scoop of chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream (which she did not order obviously!) on top of her scoop of coffee ice cream (original order was chocolate peanut butter and coffee). We did not realize the mistake until she had already licked it. It was busy and kind of chaotic in there. We informed the staff, who was largely unconcerned. When I told the girl who had taken our order that she got a scoop of chocolate chip cookie dough, the girl said “Oh—is that not gluten free?” The staff was obviously poorly trained. It’s been about a year since we have been here so maybe there has been a change in management or staff. At any rate, they remade the cone, barely apologized and now my daughter is very anxious, afraid she will be very sick. I went overboard confirming that the second cone was completely gluten free and the worker acted annoyed which was completely inappropriate. So disappointed.

After seeing everyone’s reviews I was really excited to give this place a try. They have a very clear label on one of their windows at the counter outlining what they do for nut and gluten allergies. After looking at the list of gluten free options, I decided on a Turtle Sundae. After ordering I made sure to remind the person (younge high schooler) taking my order that it was for an allergy so they would be sure to scoop/prepare my sundae in the back. She seemed a bit unsure, so she checked with a manager, which I felt great about! The manager soon called me over to let me know that their toppings are a source for cross contamination and that I would be safer getting just scoops of ice cream. I was heartbroken, but so appreciated her letting me know! She personally brought my dish of ice cream out to me when it was ready.

My experience at Purity Ice Cream Ithaca was fantastic. The staff was highly knowledgeable and able to easily accommodate for my extreme Celiac.

In doing so they change their gloves, go to the back and open brand new containers, use a designated gluten free spoon for scooping, and even have offer various gluten free cones!

Overall my experience was a 10/10, I got the mint chip flavor. I did not experience any symptoms following...and eagerly look forward to returning to this establishment!! :)

Lots of gluten free options, including a gluten free cone. Easy to read menu with dairy, soy, and corn free options also. Not sure of the cross contamination because I have felt ill after eating there both times.

Great ice cream. They understand Celiac and will change gloves, use a clean scoop, and pull ice cream from a fresh, untouched container. Very reassuring servers!

GF cones, GF and Vegan options for ice cream. GF/Vegan pancakes for breakfast.

They have gluten free cones, I did not have a chance to ask if they have GF ice cream, but presumably they have some options since they offer GF cones.
