Went to the Brea, CA location. Got "glutened" ordering the burger with GF bread, lettuce and tomato. Ordered side salad with no dressing and cheese. This location needs to work on cross contamination procedures. Next time, I'll just get an ice tea and eat at home!
My goodness! A REAL gourmet burger with a BUN and fries at a restaurant! Manager brought out the GF food and it was on different color plates from the rest of the party. I was constantly doing a happy dance in my seat. Sooooooooo yummy! Now this is my GF teen's favorite place!
I was very skeptical going into this restaurant but they had a great allergen menu, which was only available online. I had a burger with a GF bun. Very tasty. Still wish hey had GF fries or onion rings, but I'll take what I can get. I will definitely come here again.
Delicious gluten free Red Robin cheeseburger on a g free bun, careful kitchen prep, and friendly service. I told the server I had an allergy to gluten not by choice but by requirement, and the server said they would take extra precautions to keep my food safe. When the manager brought my "gluten free burger" (words upon delivery of food) I knew they had. After our meal we chatted with the friendly server who said a family who has a child who is allergic to multiple ingredients can only eat out at this restaurant due to the extra care they take in the kitchen. They cook his burger on a piece of foil on the grill. This location really cares about food safety, and my burger and extra fries were delicious.
My usual standby for a restaurant. The gluten free bun was chewy and tough. The burger tasted like it came out of the freezer. Frys were just so so. I was disappointed, my first bad experience at a Red Robin. However, not bad Glutenwise, but food sucked.
I am super sensitive Celiac and I reacted to something, or I'd give 5. It wasn't a big reaction, but still enough I was in pain and dealing with the repercussions. They have an iPad you can ask for, put all your allegories into, and it will tell you what on the menu you can have. They also have gluten free buns. I would recommend to those not as sensitive as I am, and will try again in a few months.
It was wonderful to have options and a gluten-free bun but the GF menu is only on-line and it was time consuming looking up every item individually on different links. I missed a lot of conversation while researching my meal options. I would have preferred to be handed a menu that lists the burgers, cheese, sauces etc. in one place rather than fiddling with my phone. You also have to be careful because while 'cheeseburger' was on the GF list, the waitress, knowing I was Celiac, offered me choices of cheese including blue cheese. I then asked her to wait while I found the 'cheese' section of the website (which was a separate link than the cheeseburgers) only to find that blue cheese is not gluten free. I would recommend careful pre-planning before you go, but I do appreciate that I can have a cheeseburger & fries like a normal person here. They are making a great effort, but I'd really like the convenience of having a menu like everyone else.
Diners beware! The last 2 visits at this Red Robin have been riddled with issues. The first visit I explained to the sever that I am allergic to wheat (anaphalatic), placed my order for gluten free bun and gluten free sweet potato fries. Took one bite and knew I was going to be In trouble. The fries were placed in the same frier as onion rings. The manager tried to assure me that would never happen. I had her smell the fries...she believed me then. We decided to try the restaurant one more visit. This time the the kitchen manager and manager couldn't decide if the fries were wheat free or gluten free based on the corporate website. I opted to skip the fries all together and just eat the burger. My husband ordered regular fries and they reeked of fried onion rings! He has no allergies, so not a big deal for him other than the fries tasted horrible. But placing fries in onion ring fry vats is a normal practice for this location. In my opinion, the staff both kitchen and wait need to be better educated on how important it is to serve gluten free food. If that can't be done just don't claim to do so...it's ok. Much better than making a customer extremely ill.
Celiac friendly, with a clear understanding of cross-contamination. They obviously do training, as even the hostess fully answered my questions when I called before visiting. I selected my meal from an up-to-date selection on a tablet brought by the server.
We've been here many times and have never had an issue with the unseasoned fries or the GF buns. The food is great and the service is awesome at this Red Robin. I've been to many in the chain without issue and I have an extreme sensitivity so this is important to me. This has to be my favorite location though.
It used to be great but I started getting gluten versions at the East Vancouver and talked to a manager about it. He said there is no training or precautions and the cooks don't know how to make gluten free versions, they just go by leaving off things at the customers request. They are prepared with gluten foods
Ordered the Ghost Burger for my Celiac husband. It came on the gf bun, but the jalepeños were breaded. The waiter was super apologetic when we pointed it out and went to get a new burger. Later the manager came out to apologize. Only problem we've ever had, though. Love the gf buns. Service here is fantastic.
They have gluten free buns if you'd like to order a burger or sandwich. Beware that the menu might not specify what may have gluten free ingredients. I was happy that our server was aware of gluten and confirmed whether or not I had an allergy during our order. I had the grilled chicken sandwich with fries and a gluten free beer (Angry Orchard). I had no issues afterward, and the food was good.
Red Robin has an awful interactive gluten free menu that requires a minimum of 10 taps just to get to food. Then one has to switch back and forth between categories rather than being able to scroll through all the available food choices. It isn't user friendly and Red Robin corporate doesn't care. When I've reported how inconvenient their allergy menu is to them they've responded with a canned answer and basically told me I'm an idiot. Today I went through all the trouble of navigating their interactive menu only to find that fries are no longer on the gf menu. Fries have been on the gf menu for 10 years - one only had to confirm the store had a dedicated fryer. I asked the wait staff to check with the kitchen and was told legally they couldn't do that. I have serious concerns about a restaurant whose kitchen cannot tell me whether the food they are preparing is gf or not. We left without dining and won't be back to this location. I've found other locations to be more accommodating.
3 strikes yer out!!!!!! Well, the service seems great- until you realize they arent listening to you at all. 3 times I've ordered food for pick up, as I live super close, and 3 times it was blatantly glutened after a lengthy conversation about how to make it gluten free! Once I had to go back because it was completely a gluten meal bum and all, another time they got the gluten free bun right but the french onion soup was made with the slice of bread instead of without, gluten free bun with the omitted onion rings-WITH ONION RINGS-- GRRRR!!!! It's at the point where I gotta think its in purpose.
I eat here alot without any problems! They have an online menu where you can plug in all your allergens and it will tell you what all you can eat! There are many options for celiac people! I get the keep it simple burger with gluten free bread which is also dairy and soy free! The fries are gluten free but not soy free so I get the fruit salad!
Loved our service. We walked out of Biaggi's accross the street since manager admitted NOT SAFE for celiacs. Here complete opposite. Both waitress and manager(Vanessa and Tiffany) went out of their way to make sure all safe for our celiac son. He walked out of Biaggis with tears, super smile over here. We tested fries, burger and gluten-free bun with Elisa gluten test kit--All test negative for gluten.
Decent GF burger selection, Udi's buns and dedicated fryers for regular and sweet potato fries (minus their usual seasoning).
I ate at this location a couple of weeks ago. They have a dedicated fryer and were very careful not to mix my fries up with the rest of my party. Their allergen menus are available online, are interactive, and suggest alternative selections for gluten free. They assured me that I wouldn't have to worry about cross contamination on the grill either. The gluten free bun, however, was very dry and I took it off my burger. I was very impressed with how well they took care of me.
I was given an iPad to search for GF options. Not many listed. I ordered the one entree then the waitress asked if I wanted fries. I told her the fries weren't on the list. But she assured me the fryers were dedicated. But my stomach has been hurting all afternoon and the fatigue has set in. So something was contaminated. And the ordering process was frustrating.
They have a decent size menu for gluten free individuals. My son loves the buns! It's refreshing to be able to go out and get burgers for the family without having to worry. The cook staff is very well trained on how to handle for celiac individuals and is very accommodating. My son also loves the fries!!!!
My wife and I went there last night for the gluten free offerings. (We sensed we were in trouble when our feet were sticking to the floor in the lobby). Yes, they have gluten free buns but the hamburger really had no flavor. My bottomless GF Sweet Potatoes fries were a joke. When our food was served I asked for more SP Fries. It came out 15 minutes later after I had finished my meal. Our server even noticed they were seasoned meaning they were cooked in the same fryer as non-GF so she wouldn't let me have them. This in addition to dirty floors, food stuck to the sides of the tables and dusty furnishings will keep us from returning. The funny part was when we voiced our disproval with the mgr, she gave us a $30 gift certificate to get us to return. Will probably give it to one of the children.... They may be Celiac friendly but the kitchen needs to pay attention!!!
Wonderful experience dining Gluten Free today. My first Prime Rib Dip in years and it was amazing....on a great gluten free bun with fries in a dedicated fryer and very good coleslaw! Served with a purple stick to signify it was an allergen meal. Check out the amazing interactive customizer that lets you put in all your allergens and then it shows what your options are for replacing the allergen you must avoid....for instance, today it showed I could have gluten free bun or lettuce wrap....everything else remained the same. Here's the link: http://www.redrobin.com/customizer_hub. Will definitely go back....they are allergen aware and food is great....so is service....Mathew, our server, was great!
This is a very well deserved 5 Star review... I don't give that out lightly. Especially since my daughter was diagnosed with CELIAC DISEASE. This goes out to the RR manager, Terri, and our server, Daniel, on Saturday night 3/21/15. Of course, this is a chain burger place, not a Michelin star rated establishment! But I believe the rating should reflect the experience relative to the type of restaurant that it is. And for a "burgers & more" type of place, this one is by far one of the best!! First of all, the service was BEYOND attentive and friendly. I always ask to speak with a manager and our server right away because of my daughter's Celiac... So we met Terri before we were seated. She readily went over RR's allergen program, precautions taken in the kitchen (separate prep materials, cutting board, utensils, GF buns kept and prepared separately, dedicated fryers for both fries, separate grill area to cook on, etc), and offered an iPad for us to look over all the Gluten Free menu options on their website. There were apps, salads, burgers, sandwiches, entrees, sides, and shakes! When we met our server, Daniel, he had already been filled in (by Terri) on our special needs, and he was also extremely helpful and anything he didn't know, he went and found out! Very prompt, attentive, helpful with menu suggestions, etc. He then told us that Terri went in the kitchen to oversee preparation of my daughter's Gluten Free meal herself! The menu... We were shocked how much their menu options have evolved! There were some really "gourmet" type options on there, as well as the classic burger and fries... And lots of GF options of all kinds. Just tell your server! I got the Angus burger w/ roasted tomatoes, garlic aioli, arugula, and provolone, on ciabatta type bun with sweet potato fries... it was awesome! My husband got the Fish Sandwich and fries (said it was delicious), my son got the bacon cheeseburger and devoured it all, my non Celiac daughter got the kids chicken sandwich w provolone with fries and loved it. My Celiac daughter also got the chicken sandwich w provolone on the GF bun and fries... She said it was the best bun she's had (she ate it all) and even though she's "not too big on fries", those were the best she's had and her new favorite! I took a bite of her sandwich, and I loved the bun too! Found out it was Udi's, which explained it... Awesome! Overall, it was a home run... And a stress free, delicious dining experience for our family. Not only was my celiac daughter extremely happy, but the rest of got to enjoy exactly what we wanted too! Not so easy to find these days. We are excited to go back regularly, as there are so many different options for us (and my daughter!) to still try... Not just burgers, but sandwiches, entrees, pasta, salads, appetizers, and of course many other burgers! Thank you Terri and thank you Red Robin! Your efforts are very much appreciated!
I have eaten there a few times with negitive experiences. I was sick for a week after eating there last. Possible cross contamination issues or lack of concern.
