You should fine as long as they have gluten free pasta. I went today and they were out and it really limited my options. What I was served would have barely passed for a kids sized entree, but to their credit when I complained they did make it right. But I have learned Macaroni Grill doesn't work for me and I won't be back.
The worst GF dining experimence ever. No, really. My fiance and I had never eaten at a Romamos before, and we decided to stop in while visiting his parents as I could not eat at their house. When asked by our server why we had come in we said for something gluten free that I could have as I have celiac disease. We were assured that would be more than possible by our young, bubbly, upbeat waitress. When she brought my salad out with croutons we should have left then. I was sick by the time she brought our check. Really miserable experience. Thanx Romanos for your false advertising, wasting my money and ruining my trip. Would never recommend this establishment to anyone. They obviously could care less about their customers.
Awesome Mac & cheese
Limited GF menu. Cross contamination definitely an issue. Some salads are supposedly GF but I watched the cook prepare salads by grabbing both croutons and cheese with his hands. Serious contamination there. Very happy that I did not order a salad.
I have eaten here a dozen times and they have decent gluten free pasta. I think its better in the restaurant, especially in dishes where cheese is put on top and the pasta is put under the broiler to melt it. That extra step seems to improve the texture of the pasta. After I realized that, I started doing it at home, too. I have had one bad experience. In celebration of Friday, I called in an order of Create Your Own Pasta. I ate a good portion of it while driving back to work. Once I parked, I saw that there was a regular spaghetti noodles snaked through the bottom of the bowl. Of course, I was horrified and called the manager. He sounded mortified. He said he would reeducate the chef. He also talked me into coming back after work. They refunded all of my money (including tip) and remade my pasta. He said they were also reviewing all the gluten free procedures with all of the staff. I haven't had any issues since, but I feel more comfortable going in to eat. I have had experiences where I didn't get glutened, but still chose not to go back because of the attitude of the staff when asked about gluten free options. I continued to eat here because of the way the management reacted and responded when there was an issue. The manager knew that it was a big deal.
Make your own pasta bowl with gluten free penned is very good with lots of options, but most of the other options on the are gluten free only without x, y or z. And some things you would assume would be naturally gluten free are not. Why is the risotto not gluten free? Why are the vegetables on the grilled shrimp spiedini not gluten free?
The entree was just mediocre, but the staff was incredible! They were very attentive when I mentioned having a Gluten allergy, and even gave me a special menu. They made sure to clean prep areas and change gloves, and made sure we were satisfied with our order. You couldn't ask for more friendly staff there! I ordered the gf pasta rustica with chicken and sundries tomatoes, as well as a GF Cesar salad without croutons. The pasta dish was just "ok", but the salad was excellent! They food did not make me sick! I will definitely go back, but will just order a different main course.
I've eaten here successfully a few times but there have also been times when they gave me regular pasta and not the gluten free pasta.
There is an allergy menu which lists gluten allergies plus dairy, shellfish, tree nuts, and other common allergies. They have gluten free pasta that's very good. The waiters double checked the gluten free pasta and took good care of me. Ill definitely be going back!
The three of us ordered gf pasta. My celiac daughter ordered alfredo and my husband and I ordered pomodoro sauce. My husband and I received our meal within a reasonable amount of time. We were told my daughters meal would be out shortly. Long story short, it took about 45 additional minutes for her to receive her meal. I guess they were training the line cooks how to cook gf pasta and kept messing up. Finally the head chef prepared her dinner. This was totally unacceptable to keep an 11 year old waiting for her dinner to train employees. They did remove the cost of the meal from our bill but it ruined our last night in Harrisburg.
They have options but need to work on the quality of noodle a little more.
I ordered the gluten free pasta and there were remnants of gluten-y spaghetti inside! I told the waitress, who brought out the manager, who said that they would have a stern talk with the kitchen staff to ensure that gluten-free food was prepared separately. I won't be eating here again, but appreciate the sincere tone of the manager
The food was really good, except halfway through my meal I pulled a piece of spaghetti out of my "gluten free" penne. The manager was very apologetic, but the bottom line is you can't trust the kitchen staff here, and that's pretty the most important thing us celiacs need when dining out.
Great pasta not many options if you are also dairy free tho. Service was good and our waiter was great with the gluten free requests. However the menu reading is not the easiest. You have to compare the regular menu with their nutrition chart. back and forth back and forth but the food was great!
Good GF options, especially if craving Italian food.
Good GF penne pasta that you can add to almost any pasta dish. No dedicated kitchen so if you have to be careful about cross contamination, they can't accommodate. It was at least $13/plate and adding meat added $, so not a cheap place to eat, but the atmosphere is nice. There was a gal even serenading tables (opera style) and it was beautiful.
Romano's has many GF options but I don't care for this location. It takes a very long time to get your meal and the pasta is always undercooked.
Gluten free menu with good options. BUT they brought my salad out WITH croutons so I don't feel they take gluten issues seriously.
Awesome. They are far superior in yummy pasta dishes than Olive Garden. My new favorite Italian place. They offer a gluten-free penne that can be used in a number of yummy dishes including alfredo and 'macaroni' & chesse! Can't remember the last time I found a gluten-free alfredo sauce. Our waiter seemed to know what he was talking about and made it a comfortable ordering experience. Price wise I put them cheaper than Olive Garden. Tasted like I wasn't eating a restricted meal, like pasta tasted before going gluten-free!
They cooked my gf pasta with regular pasta and served it with completely noticeable stringy noodles! It was like getting a straight fry with a group of curly fries. Result? Me noticing after a few bites while thinking "what are those?" Rookie mistake. They brought me a new plate, but it was too late--I was "glutened." Kitchen staff needs to be retrained and grilled on allergies. Will never return.
First visit since my daughter was diagnosed with Celiacs. Their pasta was awesome. They use a mixed rice & corn pasta which makes is taste more like the wheat pasta we are used to. Friendly educated staff and a nice gluten free menu. Will definitely be back.
Great gluten free pasta. They will make most pasta dishes for you with their gluten free penne. I had the carbonara and it was divine. Lots of bacon and a perfect runny egg on top. Yum.
Really disappointed in the way we were treated the last time we were here. We ordered our meals and half an hour later they came to say that they ran out of GF pasta. They made me plain chicken skewers with grilled veggies instead which was not at all satisfying. While we were waiting for my meal the other meals were sitting under the heat lamp and were inedible by the time they were served an additional thirty minutes later. Really disappiibting, especially with the management.
Unlike some restaurants, they have gf pasta AND Alfredo sauce.
Terrible experience. Ordered a GF salad. First time it came out with crispy onions on top (which have to be omitted to make it GF). Apologetically sent it back. Came back, still with onions, only this time they were on the bottom so I didn't notice till it was already too late. Asked my father not to make a big deal since what was done was done. He said he should for the next person who came in with Celiac. Manager came over and said she would watch over the rest of the meal. Brought out my mom's (also celiac) chicken with potatoes (also are supposed to be omitted). By the time the table was nearly done with their meal my grandmother (non-Celiac) still had not received her food. We found out the manager sent it back because it had gluten. At least she tried by that point (even if she got it wrong) but it was too little too late. I was belching through the entire play that was our reason for going out that night and after getting home past one I am up at six, feeling unwell, which prompted me to write this review. Dreading what's to come as far as symptoms go and thinking my fathers right. I need to do this for the next person with celiac. Not a place that's ready to serve Celiacs. At least not yet. Proceed with extreme caution.
Have gluten free pasta, but was overcooked once and undercooked another time
I had a terrible experience at this place. After telling the waiter several times that we needed to eat gluten free they brought bread to our table and then served both of us gluten pasta by mistake. I realized this after I took a bite! I will never return.
This Macaroni Grill serves only gluten free penne pasta, so I was very surprised to find multiple pieces of fettuccine in my pasta. After alerting management to this, they apologized briefly and sent me out a new one. However, the damage was already done and I was ill the entire night. I found it insult to injury that they also charged me for the meal that ruined my week. I will absolutely never go back.
Lots of gluten free entrees, some salads and other things available. Nice wine selection. All servers seem to know at least to take gluten intolerance seriously, and I've always gotten delicious food that hasn't made me sick. Complete allergens list available at your table.
The GF penne tasted like it had been reheated. I did the car side pickup and the GF pasta was all I ordered. They clearly weren't paying attention as they included a giant loaf of bread. I had to call them back to confirm that it was NOT GF. disappointing!
Never eating here again. Their service is ridiculously slow. We tell them we're gluten-free, and we get a starter of bread, regular pasta in our dishes (NOT cooked correctly, and extremely raw EVERY time), and constant offers of alcoholic drinks and desserts. If you don't order alcohol, you never see your waiter again. They can't cook gf noodles to save their lives. They always come out practically raw, and if you ask to have them redone, I have had THREE separate waiters give me the "Are you kidding?!" look and huff - only one redid the noodles. The other two told me they couldn't. My husband has gotten sick EVERY time we've eaten here. I have a small reaction to gluten (mostly I eat in solidarity for my husband, but I do have a reaction), but I have a huge allergy to peppers - capsacin. Whatever makes peppers (and Icy Hot) hot, I'm allergic to it. I ordered something, hold the peppers. What do I get? Massive amounts of peppers. I asked them to redo it, and get a second order of peppers. I asked them to redo it, and was told I would have to pay for all three orders. We got up and walked out without paying for anything. It was ridiculous. NEVER eating here again.
I will never go to a Macaroni Grill again. If I could give them zero stars, I would. I told my waiter I was a Celiac and vegetarian and ordered the GF pasta with broccoli on it. The first time my meal came out there was meat in it so I asked for it to be fixed. They apologized and brought out a new one. Halfway through my meal I found chicken in it as well as two other different kinds of noodles (not gluten free). I couldn't drive myself home because I was so sick, I felt as though the staff didn't take my allergies seriously. I will not support a business that I cannot trust with my own health and safety.

Solid options, have gluten free pasta. Nothing to write home about and I'm not sure how safe the handling procedures were.
Have gluten free pasta (though not gluten free bread), which one time was served excellent and another time was hard and unenjoyable, so perhaps the quality depends on the knowledge of the cook. They have a menu online very good with what sauces are GF and which aren't. Staff not really knowledgeable at all (at least servers)
Delicious penne pasta! I had no reaction to the pasta at all, and I have severe Celiacs. I would recommend it to anyone who is looking to dine out! The gelato is also delicious! :)
Found gluten pasta in my gf dish. When I mentioned this to the staff, they didn't care. Won't be back.

3 out of the 5 times I've been here, I have found a NON gf spaghetti noodle in my gf pasta and later felt sick. Stay far far away!
I used to love this place. But now sadly I don't eat there. Found fettuccine in my gf penne (and apparently I ate it because I got sick). The manager was super awesome about it and handled it so well! He was visually upset about it, and truly disgusted by what happened. He said there is a dedicated pot for GF pasta and they always cook it separately. He also said that he was going to call a meeting with staff to discuss it. I hope they fixed it, because I love their food. Yes they don't have a GF menu, but their chart is pretty easy to read compared to most ones I see.
We were excited about their GF menu but it didn't seem like they were. The waitress was not educated on the menu and had to go back and forth asking the manager questions. After ordering a GF pasta dish we waited an hour before we decided to leave . i asked to speak with the manager who then apologized for the wait. She said they messed up and that we wouldn't need to pay for the drinks. Really? thats it? ..We will never go back. They lost our trust and business.
Was very good as far as penne pasta and sauce selection, but if you are planning on a full course dinner or just a nice big salad your out of luck. Why is it wherever we can go for pasta all they have is penne.
Pretty limited selection once you realize that the cook their GF pasta in the same pots AND WATER as their regular. Manager wouldn't use a new pot and water. I was told that would take them too long. I get lettuce and a piece of grilled chicken, and after their idea of "gluten free" pasta, I'm not even confident in that.

The build your own pasta was perfect for me since I have other food allergies in addition to Celiac's. The service was great although I had to send my pasta back to cook a bit more. They were very accommodating. I would definitely go back.
Food was tasty. Pasta was actually GF. Not cooked quite enough, was too firm to really enjoy. Unfortunately, something was contaminated as my daughter was glutened from eating here. Won't go back. Lesson learned.
Their glutten free menu is limited to a frozen corn pasta item. Regular menu items can be adapted by leaving off pasta and sauces but it is better to just go somewhere else.
They have a large gluten free menu. Was able to build my own pasta dish with gluten free penne, garlic cream sauce, chicken, and vegs. It is a little overpriced but worth it in my mind. The only part that sucked was watching others eat their yummy bread at the beginning of dinner.
Terrible experience! When they put orzo on my plate despite my discussion with the manager, they took my plate back, pushed it off and returned it to me. Fortunately I found it under the chicken. When I complained, the manager refused to come over. I will NEVER go there again.
We ordered gluten free for my wife but the chicken came dredged in flour. After tasting it I questioned the waiter who promptly took the food away and replaced it with a gluten free dish but the damage had already been done. The manager was consulted but no help or compensation was forthcoming . I will never go back. They do not understand celiac disease. Wm Levy MD
Went there twice last week while traveling. Food was good, service was good, GF pasta was good, but the chicken tastes like it was frozen and not fresh. Being a chain, I don't doubt it
Very yummy gluten free penna pasta with arrabbiata sauce.
Normally, this is a very good option. But this location served non-gluten free pasta in my gf pasta. I'm gluten sensitive and not celiac, but luckily noticed very early. Still, it was not a good night. Never had this problem at another location, but eat with caution.
They actually have gluten free pasta, so I can order my favorite "Create Your Own Pasta" dish. We have eaten here many times and have not had any problems with glutening.
Eat here weekly. Lots of options. Gluten free pasta is amazing. Great staff. Love it!!!
The food was fabulous! They have a new gf menu that is so easy to read and goes through each item. I had Caesar salad w/o croutons and make-your-own pasta with gf penne, artichokes, red peppers, and Alfredo. Wonderful! Watch out when ordering wine... It is for HALF a glass! :(
I had the create your own pasta option. It was very good and didn't include any tummy troubles. The pasta was so good, I made the waitress check with the kitchen to make sure I really ended up with the GF noodles. Since it's a chain and training differs, it's probably a good idea to mention that your pasta noodles need to be cooked separate from other types of noodles.
