Worker was knowledgeable about celiacs and the avocado toast was so good!

My husband and I both have Celiac and we’re vegetarians. We visited here on our trip to New Orleans for brunch. This is a small and charming cafe-style joint with a nice patio. It’s not a dedicated kitchen but the staff happily prepared us an egg sandwich on housemade GF bread as well as an eggs & black beans breakfast with housemade tortillas. They cleaned off surfaces to prepare our meals. My husband and I are both very sensitive and felt fine after this meal. Amazing coffee here, too.

Solid breakfast options and were willing to work with me to leave tortillas off of breakfast burritos etc. I am pretty sensitive and did not get sick.

They flat out told me that anything they made would be exposed to gluten cross-contamination. Am I supposed to be grateful for this disclosure? I mean, at least I didn’t have to get sick to find this out. In other news, the coffee’s great but overpriced.
No
Not helpful with cross contamination. Chef seemed bothered with my questions. Wouldn’t suggest this to fellow celiacs.
No
I had a salad that was very good, but I was hoping for more options. They advised me not to have the gf bread because they couldn't be sure there was no cross-contamination.
Homemade Gluten free bread! Ordered the one eyes jack and it was great to have an old favorite! They also have my favorite chocolate chip cookie in the world.. And when i couldn't believe it was gluten free! So happy that I don't have to say goodbye to some of my faves!
i was really excited to try one of satsuma's gf sandwiches, but when we arrived, i was told they didn't have gf bread, something to do with their baker. instead, i got the breakfast tofu scramble it was just ok. if i was in the bywater again in nola, i would definitely stop in, but i wouldn't go out of my way to go back.
Visiting New Orleans I found the French Quarter was tough for GF options. Satsuma Cafe was a short drive and had a great, creative menu for Sunday brunch. Everything we had was fresh and local including a heirloom tomato salad. Best of all, the kids got GF ciabatta bread and amazing fresh squeeze OJ. Two locations in NOLA and well worth the effort to find.
