This place is fantastic. From a fellow careful celiac, go here! Menu is labeled gluten free and the server was knowledgeable about the restaurant’s precautions for celiac. She asked us to order anything that was meant to be celiac/gluten free all at once (appetizers and entrees) because the kitchen would prepare new clean cutting boards and utensils for the sushi for any ‘celiac’ orders. Got all 5 specialty rolls that were labeled GF. Tamari is used instead of soy sauce. Everything was delicious - favorites were the candlestick and secret weapon rolls (menu in photos). Will definitely go again.

There used to be so many gluten free options I could eat roughly half of the menu. However the last time I went the number of gluten free specialty rolls substantially decreased. A lot more of the options are tempurad with gluten so I question how cells can safe the restaurant is, the fried items are supposed to be prepped in a separate area but with so many of the rolls having tempura components I’m not confident about cross contamination. They only use tamari- so you don’t have to worry about that. The last time I went the food was just okay and many options that I was previously told were in my restrictions were in fact not safe anymore. They okay with other allergies but don’t do substitutions just take out the offending allergen. I asked to replace avocado with sweet potato for example and they wouldn’t do that. I’ve never gotten sick but I doubt it’s celiac safe

ive been many times without any issue and usually order a couple GF specialty rolls, spicy ramen, and the garlic edamame. the staff has always been knowledgeable about what is okay to eat and the tamari they use throughout the restaurant is naturally gf.
but on my last visit (phone order / pick up during the pandemic) it took over an hour and a half for my order and both my partner and myself had the Worst Glutening of 2020. not sure im ready to go back anytime soon 😔

Menu is clearly labeled with what is and what can be GF. The waitress told me they would sanitize the preparation surface for me and double checked and offered alternatives when anything wasn’t clear. The soy sauce on the tables is tamari. Delicious, low stress meal!
Been here twice now, felt safe both times, didn’t even feel the need to pull out my Nima. They report taking allergies and celiac very seriously.

I can’t say for sure that it’s celiac friendly (seems a bit suspect) but it’s tasty and I have not gotten sick there.
Lots of options! Everything I had was delicious! Check in early on Yelp because there will be a wait!
Delicious food and they asked me a lot of questions but I was glutened anyway. A shame.

One of the best meals I’ve ever had. Delicious! Worth the long wait for a table. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about allergen ingredients. Many GF options as well as nut free (only 2 items on menu contain nuts). Food, wine, service, atmosphere all 10 out of 10. Soy sauce on table is all GF. So happy!! Def eat here!

They have a clearly labeled menu as to what is GF. The food is very good. I have eaten here many many times and never gotten gluten-sick. FYI the wait is forevvvveeerr if you don’t get there early as they don’t take reservations. So if you can’t wait, get a to go order

Everyone should go to Shizen. They have many gluten-free and gluten-free option items. Their sushi is amazing, and their gluten-free ramen is the best I've ever had. Even their soy sauce is gluten-free! Their dessert is always either gluten free or has an equally delicious gluten-free option. I'm *very* sensitive to gluten exposure and get sick over even minimal cross-contamination. I've never had a problem here. I always let them know I have Celiac and they promise to take precautions. I'm so happy that I can have truly excellent food and trust that I won't be even slightly sick afterwards.

This is a vegan/vegetarian sushi joint. I know that maybe doesn’t sound the most appealing to some but I’m telling you it’s some of the tastiest sushi I’ve ever had. Atmosphere is great as well, just look at the pictures. Smaller place so it fills up quickly and there is usually a wait. They have gluten free ramen but the sushi is truly amazing and recommended. Fun date night for anyone but especially those who are gluten free and/or vegan/vegetarian.
