A longtime refuge -- gone.

Since the Fall of 2011, ShopHouse has served as a trusted second-kitchen, a refuge, for so many sufferers of Celiac Disease and gluten sensitivities. ShopHouse was always there when I found myself getting home late from work and no desire to cook or opening the fridge with no food to cook. The menu was not only safe, but good. Really, really good.

This summer, ShopHouse released a line of spring rolls, which contain gluten -- ShopHouse's first gluten-containing menu item. These items are handled by the same gloves, same serving canisters, and same utensils as the rest of the otherwise gluten-free menu. Even worse, the spring rolls are displayed on the line with all of their otherwise safe menu items. The staff, nor management have not received any training to help them understand how to safely handle gluten within the restaurant, greatly increasing the chance of cross-contamination. ShopHouse is no longer that confidently safe refuge for the many Celiac Disease sufferers throughout the Greater Washington area.

Gluten free but not very good food. If you're in a hurry though it's a safe bet

Awesome food and they were so helpful by letting my try what ever I wanted. We donor have strict gluten free restraints where I live. I ate there 3 times on my visit. Btw it can be a little spicy, try first. You'll love it

They could simplify the menu, it seems like they are overwhelming themselves. Overall the food is pretty good...and it doesn't give me allergies!

I brought my mom and sister here who have Celiacs, I also have celiacs. Everything there is gluten free except for the wraps and spring rolls. My sister is also very picky about what she eats, and loved it.

Great gluten free options, but the food is extremely hot/spicy!!!! Ordered the Thai Chicken Salad with sweet chili sauce on side, which is only 1 flame on their spicy scale, but the green beans are covered in red pepper flakes. My mouth was on fire and they didn't have any creamy sauces to kill the heat. They were nice enough to offer an extra side of rice, but my meal was ruined.
