I enjoyed being able to select extra items like chocolate chips and shreded coconut. The gf batter is not the best i have ever had, to be honest, but it does the job. I got there at 7am opening time so the grill was fresh and clean, no issue with CC this early

Soooooo much anxiety making our own (our own fault, one kid making GF one kid not and us keeping the make your own griddle separate) but it was great. Had coconut and choc chips add ins. Pancakes weren’t great but think you need to cook in the middle of the griddle to get a well cooked product, but didn’t matter as my kid had a blast.

We have a 6 year old with Celiac, extremely sensitive. Slappy Cakes' staff were knowledgeable and courteous of our questions about their GF process. They made sure to state that any pancakes made in the kitchen could not be guaranteed, which we appreciated the honesty. They double sanitized the griddle that comes in the middle of every table at this establishment. The gluten free pancake batter came in a marked, different colored bottle, which was nice. The pancakes were delicious and definitely a win for a VERY picky 6 year old!! Each menu has a QR Code that listed all the info for each item, and the toppings were also listed as Gluten Free, so chocolate chips for the win!! Great place to eat, and we'll probably be back before our trip is over.

The main griddle is cross contaminated so you have to make your own at your table. But that’s the point of Slappy Cakes right? Kids loved it and had a blast. The gluten free batter comes out totally separate and labeled. It’s not the best gf pancake I’ve ever had but I appreciate it for what it is. Also got the mushroom scramble and had no issues. Their website has a spreadsheet with very detailed allergy information which was incredibly helpful!

Gluten-free pancakes were delicious
Tabletop griddles are deep cleaned. We cooked the vegan/GF pancakes first and then cooked the regular buttermilk pancakes for our non-GF friends

They have GF batters but you have to get a table where you cook your own. The main griddle is cross contaminated.

Rating is purely based on being celiac safe. Food was ok but my kids loved making their own pancakes and my son did not get sick.

They suggested making the pancakes at the table for GF but I had GF pancakes made in their kitchen and no reaction. We went twice, had a scrambled egg one time and bacon the other time after snorkeling and just before they closed at 12.

This was a fun spot! We met my friend here, who is now a local. She recommended that we come early to beat the rush, 7:30. It worked! It is a small place, but service was pretty quick. I ordered gluten free do it yourself & one of my sons ordered regular do it yourself, both with chocolate chips. My other son ordered cookies & cream. My friend & husband both enjoyed theirs, but I don’t remember what they got, it wasn’t pancakes. I was the only GF. Very kid friendly, just be careful with the hot surface obviously!

Gf pancakes and you can make them yourself at your table. Fun place to go. They’re heVy so the small bottle of pancake mix goes a long way. There are many toppings to choose from.

While they were very knowledgeable about celiac and even had a menu with which ingredients were Gf and not, the GF pancakes batter was terrible. It tasted like they had put too much baking powder in the batter and had an odd bitter aftertaste. We didn’t finish ours and complained, they comp’d the gf pancakes, but didn’t offer anything else.
Wouldn’t recommend.

Ordered gf / vegan pancakes. Looked like pancakes but difficult to cut through collated to a pancake and super dry kinda like angel food cake. Would not suggest. My friend got an omelette and said it was “ok”.

Yummy in my tummy. They do make all of their own bread but the place was clean and well vented. They have GF pancake batter and you can sit at the table and make your own pancakes. They also have candied bacon with macadamia nuts that are gluten free. Unfortunately they fry the potatoes in the same fryer so they are not not gluten-free if your celiac. However everything else delicious and we will be back

The gluten-free pancakes on their own were nothing fantastic, but if you topped them with the other sugary treats they are fantastic. I had the cinnamon roll pancakes and it was as close to a Cinnabon as I’ve had in years. Definitely worth the trip!

You HAVE to be seated in one of the booths that has a griddle on it otherwise they can’t be sure of cross contamination. I did not know that and spent an hour waiting for a table then another half hour waiting for a booth! The waiter at the booth wasn’t very attentive but he seemed new. The pancakes were delicious! And it was reassuring to make them myself and be able to make mine first before my boyfriend’s to avoid contamination. Worth the wait but be prepared for it!

They recommended for gluten free you do the custom pancakes and not kitchen made ones, and they cleaned the griddle at our table. All you have to do is order the gluten free/vegan pancake mix, I'd say 1 of the bottles serves about 2 people. The toppings were delicious and I believe the majority of them were gluten free!

I ate here the last two mornings with my celiac kids on vacation- they loved it. The servers were knowledgeable and I was comfortable with their process, which is to double wash the griddles and implements. Not as completely safe as a dedicated gf restaurant- but pretty darn good. Kids loved the gf/vegan pancakes, I tried and didn’t think they tasted great... but the experience and toppings and everything made it a highlight for us. Now to break it to them we’re not going back tomorrow...
Yes
Gf pancakes were ok, toppings delicious. All sides gf with lots of options and knowledgeable servers
Edited to add: let them know you are celiac before you sit down. They will double wash the griddle and spatula. Had another good meal August 2019. Our server Faith, was very knowledgeable. I did Nima test pancakes in Dec 2017; came back gf.
They provide a gluten-free/vegan batter. You make your own pancakes on a griddle in the middle of the table. My kids were in heaven. Gf batter made w soy milk but rice milk can be requested. Talked to the manager and felt very comfortable with their ingredients and practices.

This place looked awesome and had friendly staff! They explained to me that their gluten free pancakes were cooked on the same pan as their regular ones. I am Celiac but took the risk because I wanted to try them. I’m not that sick from them but I will say that overall it wasn’t worth it. The pancakes were dry and butter and syrup didn’t help much. If you are celiac I don’t recommend the pancakes as they were not good enough to get sick from...lol. Im sure they have other options such as eggs though. Looked like a wonderful place for non-Celiacs. Better to be safe than get sick from bad food.

Gluten free options available.
Went here with my wife who is gluten intolerant. Fantastic gluten free pancakes. No question this is a great option.

We had the gluten free and vegan pancake batter to make our own pancakes. The toppings were delicious. We also ordered a side of bacon and fruit to share with our pancakes.
Yes
Yummy gluten free pancakes! Ate here twice on our honeymoon and I didn’t get sick either time.
Good GF pancake batter and other options as well. Potatoes not GF.
Yes
Pretty good gluten free pancakes. All 4 members of the family ate the gluten free ones since you cook on one griddle. I suppose you could let the gluten free person cook first otherwise. It was fun to pick add ins. No one got sick.
Staff was awesome, gave our table grill and extra sanitizing, there was no upcharge for GF batter, and it was a fun experience for everyone!
Yes
Yum!!!! great GF/ dietary menu!! Cook your own pancakes with GF /vegan batter!
Delicious gluten free pancakes!! No up-charge for the gluten free/vegan batter either!!
Waiter very friendly and attentive. Gluten free pancakes ‘amazing’
Yes
Food was okay could make something at home for a lot cheaper not to mention we let them know it was a celiac allergy when we got to the table the pan had crumbs of bread from before, girlfriend didn’t feel sick but not celiac friendly
No
Delicious gf pancakes! We made them at our table since the griddle is cleaned before each group arrives. We also go first thing when they open to avoid a long wait. Love the chocolate macademia sauce, coconut syrup and coconut peanut butter!
Pancakes were good, but not great. Sort of expensive for what you get and the wait is long. It was a yummy meal but I wouldn’t go back.
Overall good experience! Our server was very aware and she washed the table grill while we were there. My son was very happy with his GF pancake and choices of topping:)
Yes
Breakfast place where you can make your own pancakes at the table. (We were told this was the safest way to go as they griddle was sanitized after each use) They have GF / vegan batter that was delicious & the consistency was as a "normal" pancake. You can order toppings too (I did the lemon curd & blueberries - yum!) Bacon with macadamia nuts was delicious! Our server (Matt) was not very attentive but others seemed to be.
Yes
Like others said, very long wait time, yet open tables. Celiac son ordered the GF batter mix and made his own at our table (the rest of us ordered from the kitchen). Griddles get sanitized between customers. Waitress was brand new, but very educated on the GF menu, so GF is obviously included in training. Overall, a good experience and no reactions.
Yes
This is a fun experience and delicious! My husband and I created our own pancakes at the table. Our server was knowledgeable and kind and we did not have any reactions. They use garbanzo fava flour and soy milk for the batter! I'd love to go back!
Lots of fun and lots of options for gluten free
I hadn't finished half my breakfast before not feeling well. Needless to say I did not continue eating, and I still spent the next couple of hours in and out of the bathroom. Would not go back.

We had a really horrible experience here. I saw they came pretty highly recommended for gluten free breakfast so we thought we'd give it a try! We went in and they told us it was a 40 minute wait for 2 (not sure if they take reservations but if they do I advise you make them)! They mentioned we could eat at the bar if there was an open spot and luckily there was! The waitress gave me a gluten free menu but then proceeded to tell me nothing was really gluten free because as she put it "flour is literally flying around all over the kitchen". I was super disappointed but also thankful she was honest. My hubby was hungry so we stayed. I had plain yogurt and honey. Upon waiting for our food we noticed there were at least 5 to 7 tables open including one right behind us (not part of the bar). They were open the entire time we were there yet there were tons of people waiting to be seated and had we not found a seat at the bar, we'd have still been waiting when we left even though there were so many open tables in the restaurant. Normally I'd chalk this up as maybe they got unexpectedly busy and didn't have the adequate number of staff to wait every table but we were there 2 days prior but ended up not eating due to the long wait and one of the girls in our party went in and said she didn't know why so many people were waiting and that there were tons of open tables so with this happening again the second time, I'm assuming that's how they run things. Moral to the story, if you're celiac don't eat here and if you can't make a reservation don't eat here.

I wish I could give it 6 stars. Try the Hawaiian gluten free pancakes, you won't be disappointed. you must try them!
We went here 3 times during our Maui trip in May 2017 for breakfast. I had the Seasonal Vegetable Scramble (without the toast) twice. The portions were HUGE. Fantastic greens with beets. I also ordered the small stack of GF/Vegan pancakes (before realizing how large the portions would be). It was 3 large fluffy pancakes. For GF pancakes I thought they were pretty darn good - even my husband thought so and he can eat anything. I used the coconut syrup which was good. We went early in the morning before it was busy so perhaps that helped. (We did not make them at the table). They were pretty knowledge about specialized requests. They do not have GF bread which was surprising and disappointing. They had good green tea.
